WOW Vines!! I just got goosebumps! I'm totally jealous! If I tried to belly dance they'd be wheeling me to the ER. You go girl!! Congrats!

that was the funny thing about the drummer, I wasn't dancing for them, I didn't pay they any attention, since they were there for me. I danced for the other women in the class, the students, the instructor and the guests. It was very intimate, yet not at the same time. I made each woman there feel like I was dancing just for her, with her. Bringing her into my world, sharing my love of dancing with her.

Oh, and today I have a job interview of sorts. I IM'd a former boss and told him he needed me.

Oh and Jessie, belly dancing can be slow and gentle, it isn't all shimmies and swords. It really is something that women of all fitness levels can do. In my current class there are a couple of women who are close to 300 pounds, and the beginning class has even more larger women in it.

I haven't had an NSV for a while. Cushing's is kicking my butt, what with all the Highs, Lows and testing... But I thought I would bump this because I think that even though I haven't lose any weight (I've gained back the 15 I lost when I crashed hard in June, plus some extra.)

I'm not stressed about gaining weight. I have no control, and I'm ok with havng no control.

I thought I would bump this, since I've been doing a crummy job lately of banging the NSV Drum....

My current NSV? I'm going to write a novel next month as part of NaNoWriMo.

Did you get the job? I now this was way back in April...just wondering. I haven't done a very good job of keeping up. :)

Nope, didn't get the job, got sicker, the tumor Pitunia got worse. Kinda hard to work when I pass out every week. ...

I kind of amuse myself when I can leave the house and go shopping.. . I like to imagine myself in whatever customer service job (even though I dont' do that sort of work...) and just picture myself doing the job in the "slow motion" shut down when I'm too Low, or the freaker/tweeker speed freak when I'm too "High."

Strange things make me laugh these days....

I'm snorting laughing here. What a picture you put in my head...Crystal in motion. :P

A few weeks ago, I recorded a "medical mysteries" episode where the girl found out she had cushings. I need to watch it...hang in there. I can't believe how incredibly strong you are. And keeping a great sense of humor about it all, I know is helpful. You got it goin' on!

I read your NSVs and I'm going to start keeping a list. As of now I have these:

1. I can wear a size 18 instead of a size 22.

2. I can cross my legs.

3. I can move around a lot more easily and when I walk, I walk fast.

4. I can fit into those dinky desks at the Big U.

5. People have noticed my weight loss.

6. I am going to buy new clothes because my old ones are too big.

7. I am not huffing and puffing as much as I did.

8. My ankles don't make strange noises when I walk downstairs. I haven't tried running upstairs and I may not. I'm getting old and I feel that when one is over 50 one should get to use the elevator. But in the elevator, there are a lot of fat young people who are huffing and puffing and are fatter than I am! Amazing!

9. I have no problem waiting on Mother. I wait on Mother like a servant and it's easier now.

10. I have lost about 35 pounds overall, and that's okay if I keep feeling well. We have lots of people around here who look much worse than me, poor devils.

11. I have hope that eventually I will lose all 70 pounds. I will not give up hope.

Vinesqueen, I hope you don't mind me posting my NSV here but I know you will get a kick out of it. I am a accountant/budget analyst and positively anal about numbers. I was bummed because I didn't lose anything this week but I did lose 1% in body fat. At my current weight, that translates to 1.76 pounds of fat.

Since august 26, I have lost 2% body fat and 3.2 pounds total. But I have lost 5 pounds of body fat and gained 1.8 pounds of lean muscle mass.

And I just re-started my isometrics and walking programs yesterday. I am ready to concur the world!!

Celeste

I asked my question in the title. I'm not very good with numbers. In fact, I persecuted math professors for years asking why quadratic equations even existed. Finally, with my freshmen, I figured out that zero doesn't mean nothing. It was an amazing breakthrough for me. But how DO you figure out the percentage of fat?

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
