banded 1/21/09 and not feeling so hott!!

Recommended Posts

I too was banded on the 21st. Are you walking much? That is what is helping with the gas the most. Today is probably one of my better days for port pain but worse for gas pain. The muscles in my back are very sore from straining to not pull on my stomach. Every doctor is different mine has me on full liquids which includes shakes and creamy Soups. Can you have juice? I find 1 cup of OJ really helps when I am hungry. I actually get hungry but it doesn't take much to fill me up.

hey there thanks for the response, I have been walking as much as my sore belly lets me i took a couple walks around the neighborhood, my hubby actually thought i was doing to much so I dont know if that did it but um have major pain on the left side of my neck. I believe i start full liquid today so I am looking foward to some more substance in my liquid . Tiffany

If you feel like you want to chew something just chew on some gum. it really helps

Hey thanks for the advice I am a little afraid of gum for fear of me swallowing it ( I always did as a kid...lol) your progress looks amazing all the weight was lost after your band or some before ?? Tiffany:thumbup:

I too have the left side neck pain, and shoulder, was banded 1/20. My shoulder stopped hurting for about 3-4 days, but yesterday it came back with a vengence and comes and goes. Liquid Tylenol takes it away for awhile, but I don't want to keep taking it continuously, and I've taken Gas-X, walked, tried ice, heat, massage...

ANY other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Nancy

I went back to work today and boy what a hard day. My belly is so sore and the gas came back today and it felt like a stabbing pain in my chest everytime I took a breath. I would have loved to only work a half day b/c I was so sore by the end of the day. Sure hope tomorrow is better.

KY bandchick, I'm so sorry your first day back was tough. My first day was going to be tomorrow, but the gas and shoulder got so bad today I put it off another day.

I was supposed to have a full day 2day but thanks to the snow i stayed home, however tomorrow i work 9-7 so we shall see what happens. I dont have any more suggestions on mkaking the pain go away someone told me to keep massaging the area to break up the gas that has seemed to help. Good Luck to every1!!!!Tiffany

I am allowed to have clear candy so I bought some lifesavers and they are crunchy and you can bite and chew on them. i had surgery yesterday and have horrible gas pains and tightness on my left side. I was told the gasx stuff doesnt work. Has anyone had success with the strips? Its a little hard to walk around at first because of the tightness on my left side. Has anyone experienced this

I found the gas-x strips helped, are you taking 2 at a time? I also found that if you have pain in one particular spot a massage can help. I had gas really bad just below my left breastbone it hurt like heck everytime I took a breath and took my back massager to it and it really helped. Walking is great as well

I was banded on 1-26-09, not too bad the first 2 days. But Wednesday I tried more Fluid b/c I was dehydrated and a little creamed strained Soup, well the soup went down but a little later I did not feel that great. I don't know if it was the soup or that I was doing a little too much being up all day helping with my new nephew(2 wks old) and my 86 yr old grandmother. I had gas as well. Hot tea seem to help and later I found a heating pad that helped alot with my discomfort. I am staying at my mother's house for this week, so I thought she would be here to help ,but her job called her back to work and Wednesday was her first day back. Iplan to do just Clear Liquids 2day and rest more 2day maybe a protien drink later in the eveing. I was surprised my this set back:mad2: i really had a bad eveing. Gas still no bms since before the surgery. But not that hungry and the ice pops help with that.

Good luck!!!:bored:

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
