I was one of the first people to have the band placed(4th to be exact). I had band surgery in 1993. I just got it removed 2 weeks ago. I was in the hospital for 9 days and had to have surgery twice due to complications. I have to say I feel great...better then I have in a very long time. It's very different to be without the band. I had the band so long that it's weird eating. Before I always had to worry about getting blocks or eating to fast and getting sick. None of that happens now and I am eating less then I did with the band....I am sure it part of that is due to the surgeries. I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice for me. I had the band in for 16yrs..I got it when I was 18yrs old. This is new territory for me.:huh2:

Wow, 16 years is such a long time. I also wish you the best of luck with this stage of your journey.

Can you share a little with us about how banding has been for you over the last 16 years, and what led to the removal?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
