WLS and BL don't mix and it sends out very confusing messages to those who don't understand what WLS is supposed to be about.

I am not sure I agree. WLS doesn't preclude dieting and exercise; in fact, to be successful in the long term requires it. I think that having someone on with a band who shows the WLS rules and shows that it's *not* an easy fix would be awesome and would really help educate people about how WLS really works.

But it wouldn't fly with the BL producers because the "message" of the show is that any one can lose weight if they try hard enough. It's a lie, of course. But they can't have positive messages about WLS because it contradicts what they are trying to put out.

So I agree they don't mix, but I don't agree it's because it would send confusing messages about WLS. I think it's because it would send confusing messages about what the rest of the contestants were doing. It would open up that Pandora's box they don't want opened.

What's good for WLS patients isn't necessarily what's good for the rest of the population.

OTOH, the rest of the population eats way too many carbs for their sedentary lifestyle. Plus, most MO don't feel satiety no matter how much they eat.

So I think the advice is bad. If they ate the Protein first, they'd feel full longer.

I will! Mac- the big city sophisticate, together with Plain- the rual redneck. Can this unlikely pair conquer the world? Or will their diametrically held political views tear the team apart? Tune in and see.....

It's tempting but who would do the gross massive eating challenges? You'd have to get an unfill. :cursing:

Really? I don't think you're anywhere near big enough to get picked.

Ahhh... Thank you.

Bob - you're such a pu$$y.

AMEN!!!

Do you have a partner? Or are you trying out on your own? I want to - but I think I would have a better chance of getting it if I had a partner - seems all their shows are going that way.

I can't talk anyone I know into it - they are all like - OMG, no, and let people see me in those clothes and see how much I weigh.

I would totally do it. I am trying to get back to Houston area in time to go - I have a funeral tomorrow out of town - so it may get sticky.

Take lots of pictures of the lines and such - so everyone can see what it is like.

Hope to see you there!!!!

Thank you so much for the info!

I don’t have a partner…I am trying to get my friend to go with me, but she’d never be on the show. She said she’d die before being weighed on TV and would punch Jillian.

Mac - I agree. I could never do it.

1. I could never put myself on national TV in the outfits they make you wear at weigh in.

2. I'm way too much of a rebel to follow their rules and be cut off from the rest of the my life (much less the rest of the world).

3. Believe it or not, I'm a very private person and to have cameras follow me around every minute of the day to record my every mood, thought or action would cause me to go postal on the camera people.

1 – Yeah, the outfits… I’d just close my eyes and get through it.

2 – Sometimes I want the world OUT. LOL

3 – As for cameras…I think America would hate me. I’d bitch about something un-PC and the world would be blogging, “That girl is so mean – she needs to go!” Until I got so frustrated that I started crying, then they’d all say, “What a sissy.” But, eh….I could take it. I think.

I keep my hopes high that we will get a contestant that has had WLS and isn't a moron!

Wait…so you don’t want me to try???

J Actually, I’m not sure you’ll get that. I think the stigma BL puts on WLS will never change.

I don't want a WLS person to be on the show. WLS is supposed to be the last option after one has tried "dieting" and exercising and failed again and again and/or succeeded only to gain it back again. As many of the contestants on that show can attest, they've regained weight after losing it on the show. WLS and BL don't mix and it sends out very confusing messages to those who don't understand what WLS is supposed to be about.

I agree that BL and WLS don’t mix – but only because the producers make it that way. I think the general public thinks WLS is about NOT dieting and exercise, which makes me angry that BL won’t try to dispel that and work with WLS patients to show that you still have to eat right and move.

I'd do it just for the laughs. Heck, I'd go the scale wearing just a sock, a la the chili peppers. Picture brown ripple dad wearing only just a sock. Now put my face there. It's me, America!!

Glouc, I'll be your partner!! If we're picked we can rip on the other contestants and ridicule Bob for being so damn weepy!!

OMG! I think I’d rather see Sharpei Dad….But, hey, come on down to Houston tomorrow! I’ll partner up with anyone just to kick Bob’s weepy dumb ass. Team Jillian!!!

Agreed. …Maybe Minpinmom, Plain and I can break that box wide open!!!

What's good for WLS patients isn't necessarily what's good for the rest of the population. Keep in mind WLS patients have limited amounts of food they can intake (or it should be limited) whereas, those that have normal stomaches can still eat huge amounts of food. Eating the low cal, high volume, high Fiber foods is a way to "fill" up on the lowest amount of calories so that they can feel satiety. I just don't think one can compare WLS patients' diets to the rest of the population.

True but is eating Protein last good advice to give when your showing people working out 6 hours a day and more at high levels of intensity?

Well, remember the goal of the show isn't healthy -- it's THIN. Muscle weighs too. Surely you have seen those stick-women wandering around your town too?

All right ya'll....I didn't go.

DH and I talked and he persuaded me not to go. Even though, he felt guilty for telling me and then tried to get me to go - men!

But, he was right for a few points. We can't afford it IF I got picked. And the IF is so small, I didn't really want to waste a nice day. We ended up doing yard work and that feels much better than a day spent in line.

One thing he and I didn't talk about, but was in the back of my head, is that IF I got picked, I'm not sure it wouldn't be because of the band. I haven't been so happy with the band lately, or the rules that go with it, but that's my issue. I really didn't want to be part of the Band-Bash that would have definitely been made by Biggest Loser.

So, sorry guys....no pics or feedback.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
