How Much Can You Eat?

Recommended Posts

Hey All!

I'm debating back and forth as to whether I should get a fill (1/12/09 will be my 3rd fill) or am I just not eating properly? According to the info I received from Inamed (Lap Band makers) I should be eating 1-2 oz of meat, fish or poultry. I can eat more than that. I can eat 4 oz. and be satisfied, not stuffed. Also approx. how many oz. of veggies do you eat with each meal? Do you go by the: eat a ½ cup to 1 cup total per meal theory? I’d love to hear your experiences with learning how to eat like a bandster.:tongue2:

My doc's first question is always, "How many hours after you eat are you hungry again?" His gauge is more about how long I stay full. He wants me to go 4-5 hours between meals.

He does also want to know if I can eat more than 1c at a meal. I don't measure, but I figure I'm eating more than I should if I can eat what my 6 year old eats.

I can eat maybe 5-6 bites of food. I think it's about 2-4 oz at a time or 1/4-1/2 a cup. Depending on the food, I could eat more.

I almost always find the Protein fills me up and I don't have room for the veggies. I'm on my third fill and think I have good restriction now.

I find I can eat a lot. I've had 3 fills so far in my Realize Band. Right now I seem to be hungry all the time. The doctor's office is so booked, it's hard to get an appointment for a fill. I'm scheduled for Jan. 20 for my next one. I'm trying to eat more Protein hoping that will keep me fuller longer but so far it really isn't working.:tt2:

I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band and was banded on 11/21/2008. I have had one fill since surgery.

Right now, I can eat a standard dinner plate of food before I feel "stuffed". Meaning, about 4 oz of meat, I'd say 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of a starch. I do try to eat my meat and veggies before taking in a starch. Apparently this is still too much food for me, as the scale is not really moving at all. I have another fill coming the day after tomorrow.

My significant other pointed out that I am waiting for the band to tell me to stop before I quit eating, rather than only taking in the one cup of food that is recommended and stopping there, so I have been watching that more over the last two days. I am finding I get hungry again in about two hours, so I think this fill will be a good one.

I find that if I wait for my tummy to Growel 4 oz is not cutting it!!! I'm scarfing my food and taken in way to much then getting the feeling that I want to throw up!! If I eat at designated times and it's pre planned food ( lunch at work) I won't eat more and just have a snack inbetween meals if I'm hungry. Need 2nd fill to get some restriction.

My dietician has stated your total meal should not be over 4 oz including Protein, veggies and starch.

Most of the time I can eat 3/4 cup of food but I think ideal is just a 1/2 cup and even then it depends on what I eat so I try ad stay with solid foods like meat and veggy. If I have eggs I can eat two eggs and 1/2 slice of ww toast or a cup of yogart so soft foods do allow me to eat more if I eat slowly. At 6.1cc in a 10cc band I think I still need a small fill which I have scheduled for Friday,I hope this fill will get me to 1/2 cup.

I dont have a fill yet but I find certain times I feel like I can eat like I dont even have a band and other times I cant even eat (like right now I am still full from lunch 3 hours ago). I am ready for a fill to start feeling some restriction.

Glad to hear that! I thought I was the only one that could eat a pretty full-sized meal. I go in for my first fill on Jan. 7. I hope I start losing again. I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. I was banded on Nov.20 and lost most of my 17 lbs. during pre-op liquid diet. In texas too ... who was your dr. and did you go through TLCEdge?

Yes, I did...Dr. Manuel Castro. I get my second fill on the 7th too...but I am doing it through Dr. Castro's office rather than TLCEdge. 17 lbs is GREAT, especially over the holidays!

Thanks to everyone for their response. I'm still trying to figure all of this out. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one playing around with portions still.:tongue2: I'm trying to determine whether I need another fill. I was out of control over the holidays (eating). I figure if I just get back on track this week, I'll know if a 3rd fill is needed.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
