I had my surgery on Dec 22 and this afternoon I had the worst migrane of my life? Is this a common thing for people with migranes after the surgery or maybe unrelated? I did not vomit after the surgery, but had the dry heaves tonight, could I have messed up the band? Sorry this is a gross question.

Hi there,

I suffer from Migraines too, and often get very nauseous when I get my headaches. My surgeon prescribed metraclopramide for post surgery nausea, but I have found that phenergan simply works better when I have a Migraine.

Talk to your doctor and make sure to have something that works for you on hand! I don't think the dry heaves hurt your band, but make sure to have something handy for the future.

It's not uncommon for a person to experience headaches, even Migraines after altering their diet.

Going from massive amounts of food to little/next to none can cause headaches.

Same with me...I can go about 2-3 days without Mt. Dew but then the headaches draw me to drink. Got to get rid of this sodapop in my life.

I had Migraines too but I think it was more from dietary changes than the band.

I only had them in the early weeks post banding and they went away as my body got used to my diet (I also suspect being a heavy diet coke drinker that I had to pay the price for going from caffeine overload to almost none).

I was only allowed to take Tylenol for them but it never helped. You may want to ask if there is anything else you might be allowed to take that might help you make your way through.

I had very bad Migraines before my band. I also drank alot of Diet Coke. Now that I have virtually eliminated carbonation and aspartame from my diet, I haven't had a Migraine since before my surgery! Do some research on aspartame, I truly believe that the sugar substitute was my problem.

How interesting that you should say that.

Now that I have given it thought, I realize I had migraines regularly before banding, worse right after banding and then they were miraculously gone. Perhaps there was more to the problems with my overindulgence in diet coke/dr. pepper than just caffeine overload, lol. I am certainly healthier now than before and I drink mostly Water. It could have been the sugar substitutes I was drinking to excess daily.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
