Are there people on here that do body pump? How do you like it and where do you do it?

I like it but always felt that I needed a cardio session afterwards. So I do something similar myself at home, with sprints on the treadmill between muscle groups.

It *is* basically light weight, high rep strength training so you will need to also do some cardio. But if you hate strength training like I do, lol, the music, the group atmosphere and circuit style format of it makes it fun. I cant stand standing round resting between sets etc in the gym.

My advice would be once you've done a few and gotten used to it, use the most weight you possibly can and still make it through.

I take the bodypump classes at American Family Fitness. It's a good mainly becaue you can control how much weight you use. I also LOVE BodyJam!!!!!

I've never done BodyPump because I'm not at the gym when it's offered, but I would definitely do it if I was around. I do BodyStep, which I really like! It's 90% cardio because it's all stepping with a bit of lower body strength mixed in at some points. The music for all the Les Mills classes are great and being with a group is very motivating too (at least for me). The time also flies because it's split up into segments.

With any of the Les Mills classes, it takes a few sessions to get used to the choreography (at least from my experiences with BodyFlow and BodyJam, not sure how much it applies to BodyPump) Don't get discouraged if it's hard to follow in the beginning. Once you're familiar with the routine it gets easier and you can focus on getting as good of a workout as you can from the class.

I did Pump 3 times a week for over a year a couple of years before I was banded. I was able to lift 25 kilos on a 5+ minute bicep track (quite a feat!) and I saw great results, but unfortunately because my technique was off when I was doing the squats and lunges tracks I developed severe patello femoral syndrome in my knees. I had intensive physical therapy for about 6 months after (and gained a heap of weight in this time cos I couldn't do any kind of exercise without pain), but was never quite right again. My advice is, go a little earlier to your first class and tell the instructor that you are new and you'd like him/her to keep an eye on you and your technique--don't be embarrassed to do this, you'll get the most of the class if you get the right technique from the beginning. Good luck!

I have been doing Body Pump for about three or four weeks about 2 or 3 times a week. I like it. I agree with another person who said that they feel like they still need cardio. I definitely need to have cardio in addition to the body pump. At my gym our instructors are great and really watch our form and correct us if necessary so we don't injure ourselves. The first time an instructor corrected the way I was doing something I felt a bit embarrassed until I started going more and see now that they help everyone by pointing out what they need to fix so they don't hurt themselves.

The gym I am a member at offers Les Mills programs. I did body pump with my trainer before being banded and saw great results. I didn't keep the weight off after no longer having my trainer. That's when I had lb surgery. Now I'm back into body pump and certainly follow it up with cardio. I do body pump and zumba back to back on Mondays and through out the remainder of the week find another form of cardio in conjunction with body pump. I've never tried body jam, body flow, body step (i hate regular step classes), body attack or body combat. I think I want to try body combat, body flow and body jam. I LOVE body pump.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
