New notorious novembers weightloss spreadsheet

The flu sounds horrible. I'm glad I have never had it yet. I get a stick out instantly by drinking a small gulp of Water, bending way over the toilet, and it comes up with the Water. Much better than coming out without the water!!

You have done great with your weightloss. My excess skin is not that bad compared to many pics I have seen. Perhaps that is because I have been overweight since childhood. I am 55, but still would love to have a lower body lift! I am more scared of the pain than the loan! I had a breast lift 10 yrs ago and they cut a lot of skin. It was the worst pain I have ever had in my life the first couple days. And I never have forgotten about it!

Friday will be 2 years since surgery. It's crazy how life has changed.

I've been sick for the better part of this year but am getting closer to an answer. The doctor I see for my follow up care here believes I might have biliary dyskinesia and possibly an ulcer in my stomach. I have a HIDA scan scheduled for this coming Thursday and will have a gastroscopy done at some point later this month. If it's the gallbladder he'll take it out and hopefully that will be the end of the constant sickness and pain.

I'm recovering from my neck injury I recieved earlier this year but between that and being so sick I haven't worked out much at all this year. I've still managed to lose 40lbs this year but I've lost a LOT of the muscle I developed and toned last year which has bummed me out a little. I'll get it back though. :)

Being banded was the best decision I have ever made. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had the choice to make again. It truly has given me a chance at a normal life and I shudder to think of where I might be had I not had the surgery done, or if I'd still be alive.

I hope the rest of you are well and enjoying life. :hi:

Current weight: 159lbs - One pound away from 150lbs lost, 5lbs away from half of me lost.

Tristessa sorry you have been having such a tough time. I'm surprised that your gallbladder wasn't removed with your lap band surgery.

If it's just an ulcer ask for sucralfate that healed mine in no time at all. Matter of fact it stops the queasy too much acid feeling in a couple of uses. Then you don't feel hungry at all.

We were the closest in weight for the 2008 Notorious Novembers. By the way how tall are you? I'm 5' 10". You are doing great with your weight loss, and I'm sure you will get your toned fit body back as soon as your neck heals the rest of the way.

I have gained some of my weight back since my Dr moved his practice 4 hours away, and I started caring for my mom with alztimers. I'm trying to get back on track again with diet and exercise. So far the exercise has been going good for almost 3 weeks. The diet is much harder, but so far two healthy eating days down.

Please let me know how your tests go.

Well, not the gallbladder and no ulcers.. Turns out it's gastroparesis. I'll be starting on Motilium in the new year and we'll see how that goes. Hopefully I won't have to lose the band and I can find a way to start eating "properly" again. I know raw vegetables are out and a lot of meat, but eating a couple of solid meals and then having to go on liquids for days is starting to suck.

Gastroparesis usually comes with rapid weight loss - the one symptom I don't have - I've actually GAINED six pounds and am back up to 165lbs. But living on liquids is TOUGH!!! I understand now why I didn't lose much during my post-op liquid diet. Those liquid calories really add up. It also doesn't help that I'm so bloated I look about 6 months pregnant. Grrr.

I'm really hoping to find a way to balance this and still keep my band. I'd really like to be able to eat solid food without getting so sick I can't stand it. I'm hoping the Motilium works and I can start feeling human again. I gotta say, I really miss lifting weights. Something I never thought I'd say, hehehe!

2-Lose-Fluff: I'm 5'5" - how are you doing? Getting back on track with the eating? Hope you're doing well. :)

Happy holidays everyone!

Hi everybody,

Its been years since I posted. I lost about 35 lbs after surg and then everything went wrong. In 2010 I had both knees operated on separately to repair old football injuries that had left me barely able to walk. Then our house was wrecked in a storm. THEN just as my knees felt better I got an infection in both eyes where I could barely see for 8 weeks. THEN just as everything was better...I fell off a ladder and broke 11 vertebrae, 4 ribs, punctured a lung, and bruised my heart. I ended up in a body cast but luckily everything still works.

Now I am out of the body cast. Fully recouperated and even doing P90X workouts. I never even got a chance to try out the repaired knees they are great!

Everybody has a certain amount of bad luck. I figure I must be good for a while now.

Hope you all had a better year than I did.

Cheers!

Wow, it's been a long time since there have been any updates in here.

Maintaining between 180-185lbs but I'm 7 weeks pregnant so that will change. :D

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hello? Anybody still here? I can't believe it has been four years for all of us! Happy Bandiversary everybody!

I am doing very well at 190 pounds -- wearing Size 12 dresses. I feel great...it's a long, long way since November of 2008 when I was 280 and a size 24. I've struggled with nutrition, but I'm trying really hard to eat the best I can.

I hope everybody is doing well. Take care!

I cried a little when the scale crept back up over 200lbs but I started working out last week (at 33 weeks pregnant) and I'm feeling pretty confident that I can get the baby weight off once the baby is here and I can start weight lifting again.

Had my band completely unfilled at the end of August and the weight started piling on. I've been maintaining (well bouncing up and down 5lbs) for the last six weeks or so and I've got six weeks or less until the baby is here and then it's back to weight lifting and HIIT and Protein, Protein, protein!

The introduction of carbs has been my downfall in this pregnancy. Getting the band unfilled allowed me to have bread for the first time in four years! I indulged. But I'm over that now.

Can't wait to get back down to the 160-170s. Still holding out hope that I can hit 154lbs and offically lose half of myself. Though at 159lbs you could count all my ribs and see all my chest bones, so not sure if I want to get that low.

Crazy how fast the last four years have gone and how transformative they've been!

Glad to hear you are doing well, SunnyRachel! Congrats!

Hey people! I was possibly apart of this group years ago. I didn't stay the course and that's probably why I have had so many issues with my band. I'm getting back on track and I would love your support and encouragement. Looking forward to hearing from you banders :-)

If you can work the band definitely do. I have had so many complications that mine needs to come out. I thought I was going to have to self pay for a sleeve which I just can't afford but found out I am covered by my provincial health care for revision.

Have you had any complications or that with your band?

I had it really tighten up on me to the point that I had to go into the emergency room. I didn't know a lot about the minor complications of the band and the super tightening is a common issue. I was so turned off at that point. Had I had support it would have been better.

But I'm still trying to work it. I'm was blessed with a job, and my health carr should be kicking in next year. But I plan to pay out of pocket for my fill. I'm just trying to figure out when I can get a late appt. There are parts of me that want the sleeve, but then I still fill like I didn't allow the band to really help me. I didn't continue to get my fills as I should have.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
