New Surgery Scheduled

Recommended Posts

Hi,well after months of fills without restriction and frustration, I am being scheduled for surgery at the end of the month to get a smaller band. I am currently filled to the brim in my 14cc band and things are still flowing quite quickly through. I am trying to stay positive. I've been trying to find if this has happened to anyone before on LBT but can't (it can't be that uncommon). Anyways, I wish you all continued success!

Alyssa

Hi Val. I've not read about this before. I guess it makes sense that if your stomach loses weight than a band would need to be made smaller??? Have you posted this in the complications forum?

I hope all goes well with you. Take care

It makes total sense to me. Honestly, with you starting pretty low, I think they should have given you a 10cc band to begin with, I know everybody's stomach is different, but usually people under 300 lbs only need the 10cc, at least, from the research I've seen that is. Heck, I've seen a few folks starting over 300 lbs that still got the 10cc.

My friend was about 355 and she got the 14cc band and she's down to 245 now and her 14cc band is completely filled too, but she still needs to lose about 50 more lbs. Her larger band did help her lose over 100 lbs, but now she's sort of stuck in this limbo.

I don't think you ever should have gotten the larger band, but we have discussed this. Your band was always too big for you from the very beginning. Congrats on the new surgery and I know it's gonna go well for you sweetie!! :smile2:

Crystal, you called this a long time ago!!! I see my dr in the am to finalize everything. I'm ok, I really need that "do over" post op phase to get on track anyway and this will force me to do it.

omg, I just saw your post to the other one I did, (that I can't figure out how to delete). Anyways, I won't have to pay for this new surgery, my dr. is working that end out. No, I'm not getting a new doctor, I really like him. He knows how frustrated I am and he is that has done tons of surgeries, I still trust him.

Alyssa, I have a very good friend who got the Vanguard Band which is a bigger band. She most definitely weighed under 300 lbs - probably closer to 240 lbs, and she has never had restriction, and her band is over filled by 1 cc. She's had her band for over a year, and has only loss the 25 lbs she lost at the very beginning. She's looking at some sort of revision surgery, but I don't know if she'll consider a smaller band. Best of luck to you!

coolcrystal: I was 375 at the time of my surgery on 2/7/08. I have 6cc in a 10cc band. I just reached my 100 pound mark. I would like to lose another hundred. Hopefully since I still have 4cc left until I am completely filled it will get me through my whole weight loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
