bad behavior... stopped loosing

Recommended Posts

I was banded in April 2008. So far I've lost about 35-37lbs. Slow is what I was wanting, 'cause I don't want to have further surgery for loose skin. I have totally lost all motivation. I am tight enough that if I eat to fast or to much I feel it. But I'm drinking a little with some of my meals and I know that's against what we're suppose to do. I try to make good food choices. I also joined Curves, but life happened and I don't have a car right now so I don't go as often as I'd like. Guess I just needed to vent/confess...:cursing:

I'm a slow loser too and know that for me I have to exercise to lose weight because I'm not into food diaries and don't want to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I got the band for help with Portion Control and it is helping me there but to get better results I know it has to be exercise. You don't have to go to a gym to exercise. There are cheap exercise dvds, there are stairs you can go up and down and and walking is free and can be done anywhere, even inside your house. You can also jog in place, jump rope, etc. There are a number of things you can do on your own and in your own home. Now, I just need to follow my own advice...

Hey... Don't feel bad. I'm a sipper too when it comes to meals. I know that it's against the rules. But that is a habit that is hard to break. I have family that can do it without a second thought...but me I'm always craving something cold and sweet to drink with my meal.:cursing:

Katie,

From one "Katy" to another... I know it is super frustrating... And don't be discouraged... but I'm going to be honest with you--- drinking with meals will SIGNIFICANTLY alter your weight loss. You can consume A LOT more calories even if you only drink a little with your meals... In the beginning of my journey, I drank a teeny bit with my meals. But, I finally buckled down, and got rid of the beverages. That made a HUGE difference. Here's the deal... once you get out of the habit, you won't even miss it or think twice about it. I sat at Thanksgiving dinner, with a huge glass of wonderful wine that my grandmother had poured for me and it didn't even cross my mind to drink it. Later on in the evening I did have a few sips though. Retrain your brain by changing your actions. I promise you that after a few weeks, you'll be so surprised you waited so long. Big HUGS!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
