Food Stuck in Throat

Recommended Posts

I was out all day today and decided to stop for dinner and have a little Soup at the Olive Garden. I mistakingly bit a very small bit of a soup soaked bread and it got stuck. I waited for about 15 minutes and eventually, I burped and released about a cup full of saliva, the small piece of chewed bread, and some of the soup I had sipped.

There wasn't any bile and it didn't necessarily feel as if I had truly vomited. Am I alright? Is it possible that I've harmed my band? What should I be concerned about?

I've had some soup to eat in the last hour and I feel normal. My stomach feels like it normally does when I'm full with the band. If it were to "slip", what would I be looking for?

BTW, I was just banded last Friday (it's one week now)

You sound like you will be okay. I guess if that occurs again in the next couple of days I would call the doctor.

Remember you are healing and there is a lot of pressure.

Hope your feeling better.

I'd call my doc monday just to be sure. Newly banded as you are, it isn't likely your band site has healed yet. A PB (such as you had) wouldn't hurt a few months down the road but 1 week post op, it can be a concern. Your doc may want to do a test to make sure you haven't slipped.

IF you have, don't panic. He can most likely fix it and it's better to know now than to risk erosion down the road!

I have a meeting with my doc on Monday morning; I'll let him know about it then. If it has slipped, are they going to have to open me up again? I paid for the whole thing in cash... I don't want to pay again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
