Michelle- I would suggest a housekeeper thing.. That's how people end up on the news with the most disgusting houses, taking the child from the home, etc. It spirals out of control before they realize it!! The girl I work with that this happened to last year, that's how she said it started.. she was depressed and it just piled up 'somehow'.. she's actually in jail right now, and they took her 2 sons.

We are NOT going back to the childbirth class today. It's from 12:30-5.. with a 1 hour lunch break in there somewhere. Well yesterday she kept plugging along and said, how about we skip lunch and get out of here an hour early. Room full of pregnant women ready to pop, and she says this. People agree, because going home early sounds good--the chairs are the hard plastic chairs, my butt hurt SO BAD. After all that, not only did we NOT get out an hour early, she ran OVER 30m. By time we got out, I was nauseated from hunger and walking with a limp from the pain in my back. I'm not doing that again. Luckily the breathing/relaxation techniques were taught yesterday, and we got the overview of what is going to happen when we go (she is L&D nurse at the hospital we're using). I was surprised to find out, our hospital induces at 38 weeks at 90% of the time. I didn't realize they were that common?!?! She said it's for the doctor's convenience. Well ain't that special. So I may not get to see what labor coming on naturally is like. On the other hand I do like the idea of 2 weeks early (smaller head) and getting to meet him 2 weeks early!! My mom kept talking about how first time moms almost always are later than their due date, so I was kind of anticipating that.. apparently they don't let that happen at all, so no one ever goes past their due date.

They played the birthing video, Russ turned pale and pulled his hat down (as not to watch). He was in good company, 2 other guys were pretty much grossed out by everything we were hearing and were vocal about it.

What were you doing in San Diego Pam??

I told work I would create a new brochure for a service we're offering, I have yet to feel the creative juices hit me.. I got on this morning hoping to feel inspired.. still nothing :(

How many years does it take to get to 40th anniversary Judy??? ;)

My parents just celebrated 32 last year.. they got married a month out of high school.

Holy cow, Laura!!! That class sounds like torture!! Kris's classes are on Monday nights for 6 weeks.. 2 hours at a time. I think she's done with them now. She will be induced on March 4th one week after her due date, if she hasn't delivered by then. I forbid her to go into labor during this storm and so far, so good.

And it takes about 44 years to Celebrate 40. We met in 1965, my first year in college, got engaged in '66 and married in '69. I've lived with the Bobster twice as long as I lived with my parents. yikes!!

It's STILL snowing out and no signs of stopping. I'm going to rehearsal at 1, but not sure how many more will be there. There were 28 in church today so they met in the chapel. I was not one of the 28 and only people who could walk in were there.

I'm going to go figure out what to have for lunch.

Thanks for the responses, girls... it helps to get some perspective on it... obviously, by how much I typed, I was (& am) concerned & uncertain how to proceed. There are 2 SILs who I thought might step up & take charge of the situation, but the BIL last night said that the dad got so mad at one of them one time when she cleaned up that it made her cry and she pretty much washed her hands of the whole thing. So. I feel like he & I have a good, honest relationship and that I could completely take any flak he might send my way... he would NOT make me cry!... also that coming from me, suggestions might be heard... so we'll see... like I said, this isn't exactly a "current" situation, but it is MORE a mess than ever before... seriously, you'd all be flabbergasted I think if you saw the amount of stuff we're talking about... I need to go over there today to make sure they put the food I took over away AND to get my bag back (before it disappears forever)... I'll feel out the situation & see... hmmmmmmm...

Other than that, I'm still in my pj's unshowered. Lovely! Guess where I"m headed??

BBL... SMILE! ;)

Morning Ladies~

Laura we went for the day...just to take a drive through the mountains, drive to the beach, have an ice cream cone and walk along the beach and marina...that was the agenda, and we had a great day!

Terry, I love what you said about mom whispering to you. Yesterday, I had a really hard day thinking about dad. This was the first one I'd had since going to Reno. Everywhere, 50-65 yr old men were on their Harleys, sail boats were everywhere. My dad used to be stationed in San Diego when he was in the Navy and my parents lived there (my mom went to USD). I was just holding this lump in my throat for what seemed like all day. Then when we were walking out of the base, I see this guy wearing a UNR (my alma mater) tshirt! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? We chatted a bit cause you rarely see U of Nevada, Reno tshirts in So. Cal. But as we drove home, I just bawled. Susanne just held my hand and let me cry. It felt good cause I seemed to be thinking about him a lot all day...kinda needed to let some out!

Today, I have 30 grad papers to grade! I've got a pot roast in the crocker already and it is going to stay there for the day! Steaming fresh asparagus later to go w/ the meat. Then watch a little of the Oscars...L Word...Big Love and the United States of Tara!

Have a great day!

Good evening, Violets..

Rehearsal went off as scheduled. Only two couldn't make it in. We rehearsed for 3 hours and got some more things worked out.

I fixed pineapple glazed spare ribs for supper and had one little piece and then started pb'ing and haven't quit yet. I really don't like that feeling, especially when the ribs tasted soooooooo good.

Oh well, live and learn.

The snow finally stopped, thank goodness. Jenn, I hope you don't get hit too hard with it today and tomorrow.

Ethan comes tomorrow and then in the evening I have Community chorus.. another 2 hour rehearsal. Will the fun never end??? Good thing I love to sing.

No new grandbaby yet. Luckily she didn't go into labor in the midst of this storm.

Well, I've pb'd 3 times during this post so I think I'll quit and just stay in the bathroom for a little bit.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

Good Evening...

Am getting situated on the couch w/the laptop in front of the tv for the Oscars... good Sunday night!

I did speak w/my friend/neighbor today, and I'm "scheduled" to go over on Friday morning to help him "tidy up"... we had a great talk... he's open & honest about it... acknowledges the issues... I told him to pick where we would start & we'd work 'til noon & then see where we were then... & that I'd commit to coming over every Friday 'til the job was done... just the "public" areas kitch/familyroom... not the garage, basement, or upstairs... but if he's willing to try, then I'm willing to help... so we'll see...

Ok, off to snuggle up & enjoy the celebs! Enjoy the eve!

Hey y'all~

We just walked in, we went for a nice ride up into Colorado. We were supposed to go with Becky & Gary, and another couple we ride with regularly, but Beck was a bit irritated (read thoroughly pissed) at Gary and refused to go!!!

We rode up and checked out a new casino, I won $12.60---but only dropped my $10---and cashed out when everyone was ready to go with $22.60----played for about half an hour, had fun. Then we all rode back and met at the local Chinese restaurant, and had some late lunch/early dinner---it was not quite 3. After that we rode to the other couples place, they are living in a modular home, and are building a new, huge home! He is in the process of stucco-ing the exterior, it is looking really nice. But I keep telling myself, my house is not that big, nor is it that new....but it is mine, it is paid for, and in this economy, I am lucky!

Felt so good to get on my horse yesterday, and then today to let the wind blow, it seemd like it had been forever!

Even before Manda got sick, the weather had kept us housebound for awhile. I promised Kinsey sometime next week I would take her riding.

Last week she come prancing in to the LR, and she had on this little black hoodie she was given, that has a white skull on it (yes a little girls....???) anyway, she had on shorts in the house, and had put on her dress shoes, and had her purse on her arm. She informed me she was goign on a date. I smiled, and went along with her, I ask her who she was going out with, and she answers "Fraggy Handsome". It took everything I had not to laugh! I repeat Fraggy Handsome? She says yes. I ask her what he is like and she tells me "he is just a lregular guy" yes with the stray l thrown in regular. She cracked me up!!! Then that night when we went to dinner with my parents, she ask Rick if we could double date!

That afternoon a show called iCarly was on, and she had never sat and watched it, but something caught her attention and she watched it intently. She kept asking me why they were being mean to this boy-he films the show they put on on the series. His name on the show is Freddy. I think she misunderstood the name, and has her first crush!!! LOL

She still goes on about Fraggy Handsome.....cracks me up!

Michelle--I don't know how I would handle it---I agree it is liable to be a waste of time and energy, unless he is one to keep it up, it would leave me with a sense of futility.

If he is someone you can seriously talk with, I would suggest to him someone who could come in on a regular (lregular) basis, and keep things up, so that is does not become an issue with his son.

I mean in all reality, if they do not pick up a dropped straw, when do you imagine the last time the sheets were changed? Or the toilet scrubbed?

It sounds like something that needs steady, attention, and if it is something he could afford, I would suggest that.

I am opposite of Jane, I do not want anyone coming in and cleaning my house, unless I hire them. I do not want my Mom cleaning, or my freinds--------it is totally different if I am paying help!!!

Pamela, I flew into SD when I was banded. I was banded in Mexicali, which was someplace very special to my Grandma, and every step of that trip, there was something reminding me of my Grandma. It had been longer since the loss, so I found it a great comfort, that I was making the right decision--but I know exactly what you mean, about feeling him with you. Glad you had a special day tho!!

Well I am off to check some email, and maybe.....just maybe get something done. Then again I may do NOTHING all evening long----what a excellent idea!!!

Kat

Hey Gang~

I finally cooked the roast ya'll helped me w/ a couple weeks ago (receipe wise)...it was yummy! I cooked it for like 7 hours and when I went to pull it out, only the bone came out! My dog loved the bone btw! I cut all the fat off, and shredded the meat. I added some potatoes the last couple of hours for Susanne, and also steamed some asparagus! I had a salad, asparagus and meat! Anyway, thanks for the tips!

I have graded 25 papers today...couple more to go! Watching the Oscars. Not much else going on. Another busy week here.

Morning gals

Kat - i'm going to stick that stuff in the snail mail, the attachment is too large to email, it wouldn't go.

I'm starting today, have 1 slice multigrain toast, 4oz grapefruit juice, 2 cups lettuce with 3oz chicken and 1 serving of crutons and a yogurt to take with me for the day. I'll have a salad later for dinner and some watermelon when i get home.

I pray it works. doesn't help super PMS week. Which means I can eat anything i want to for 2 - 3 days. I don't understand that but it is the way it goes for me.

Hope you all have a great day, i'm leaving for work in a few.

Judy, the storm missed us, we got 1" here and 6" at work, but I'll take that.

Enjoy

Good morning, Violets..

10 degrees here, but no new snow. Glad it missed you Jenn. We sure got dumped on. I'd like to think it is the last time this winter, but I know better living in Northern Michigan. We have at least 2 more good storms to look forward to before I can even dream of getting my swimming pool up and running.

I'm waiting for Ethan to arrive and we're going to go out to visit Aunt Kris today. She's bored at home and Ethan loves it out there so we'll make the trip to spend the early afternoon with her. It's only 40 minutes away.

Kat.. hope things are still going well with Manda. The Bobster asks every day if I've heard anything new.

Everyone have a great day. Suzie.. I'm with you.. no FAT Tuesday here!! hmmmmmmmm wonder what I'll give up for Lent.

Morning gals~

HHMMM? What am I giving up for Lent? I forgot it was this week. I will have to think about that.

Well, I knew I should have watched Slumdog yesterday. Oh well, we will go soon. Everyone I know saw it and said it was gritty, but very good

I have to get Carson's present in the mail, and Haydee's tweezers too! Hopefully I can do it today after school before my doc apt.

Jenn, I didn't get the med. diet stuff.

Everyone have a great day! I'll pop in later.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
