Realalistic weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I'm a male who currently weights 421 pounds. I'm being banded on December 5th. I'm curious about what I can look forward to on weight loss in the long run?

Of course it varies by person, but the stats say about 70% of your excess weight is average. I started at 330 and am now at 180, I should be 150 to have a bmi less than 25. That a little over 80% for me. I feel comfortable where I am at, but will probably lose a little more. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I hope it gives you a rough idea of what to expect.

A lot of it is how hard you are willing to work. Especially at first you aren't going to have much if any resistance, and I wasnt allowed to get a fill for 5 weeks to heal and then that didnt give me any resistance either.

I was banded July 9th and working it. I get a fill this Saturday and hoping for more help to lose faster. Not happy with my slow progress. Im exercising, but eating more than anyone here says I should be eating, just eating a lot of fish and watching my sugar levels.

As you can see by my ticker, Im planning on getting into the 120s and Im 5 7, so less than the weight charts say I can weigh. I wouldnt be happy with less.

Just make up your mind you are going to do this. Get some SF popsicles or something to stick in your mouth when you want to eat. Or I roll up a few pieces of thinly sliced ham for a higher Protein snack.< /p>

Hi Hacker,

I would suggest browsing through the site and reading peoples' tickers or weight loss stats - they usually appear beneath their posts. That should give you a pretty good idea of what weight loss people are managing to achieve. On the November 2007 board, there is a thread where we post our loss, percent of body weight lost and current BMI. Come have a look!

Good Luck,

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
