Did anyone get a tattoo after getting banded that symbolizes ur success?

Recommended Posts

i did. i got a koi fish on the outside of my lower leg when i lost 50 lbs. i still have one more sittin before its done. when i reach my goal weight, ill have another koi done on the inside of the leg to make the full sleeve. the koi fish has meanings: bein a non-conformer, kinda swimmin ur own path. and it also symbolizes goin thru adversity and overcomin. i also have plans for full back piece to be done after i loose the weight.

Not yet, but I do plan on getting one. It will be my first tattoo.

I was reading on a thread a while ago where someone got a tattoo of their band date in roman numerals on their wrist or something. I really liked that one, but may end up with something else. Who knows..?!?! I'm a long ways to goal so I'll probably change my mind a thousand times before I get to the point of being ready to get a tattoo.

I got one on my upper right shoulder. I had my surgery June 13th, 2008 which was Friday the thirteenth, my favorite day. So I got a tattoo with die, on one dice i it had 1 and the other dice at 3 for 13. It has pink flames and cherries. With the wording lucky thirteen

wow!

I've been wanting a tattoo that signifies being banded too.

Everyone always says to get something that actually means something to you, and this is something that means alot to me.

I've been thinking about maybe a butterfly, symbolising being free and 'light' and careless. I'm still not sure though either.

Let me know if you get any other good ideas :)

xo

hi all. i have a few tattoos but theyre on my ankles, feet, wrist. the places that are skinniest. so it has always been a dream to be able to get a tat someplace on my torso..but have never felt comfortable doing it bc noones will see it bc im always covered and ill want to show ppl but be too embarrassed. so i vowed that when i hit my goal i am going to get a pirate ship either on my side or my back on my shoulder..thats deff been the places i;ve been afraid to venture and cant wait til i can finally feel comfortable enuff to get it there. pirate ship has no significance..i just love pirates and nautical folklore (way before the pirate mania) lol

I got a tattoo two weeks after being banded, it's my second, and it was for my birthday but also as a memento for my surgery. I got a realistic cherry blossom branch on my foot. If you know anything about japanese and chinese symbolism then you know why I got it. I have pictures posted on here of it. It turned out so great but the pain was almost unbearable...:tongue2:

I have one now on the inside of my ankle, but when I lose all of my weight, I plan on getting a new one. I know I want another butterfly, I just haven't decided where or what it will look like yet.

My grandma died a year ago and she was an artist so I want to get my favorite painting of hers down my left side. Because it's going to be down my side I want to wait until I'm at goal weight. She wanted me to get this surgery sooo bad, so This tattoo represents her and represents my surgery.

SO glad someone made a post on this! Yes, when I get the surgery, after I'm healed that is -.- I'm going to finally finish my sleeve and start my back piece that I hadn't been able to start since of the um *cough* back fat lol. On my left arm I was also thinking of getting a portrait of Tori Amos and my sugar glider Peaches (yes I know random it's okay! I love it) and the back piece is still in construction, but so far it's a mix between Giger-esque/Kwan Yin/Lilith. I can't wait to have my canvas smoothed out and ready to be painted again :tongue2:

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
