Sleep apnea complications

Hi everyone,I was wondering if anyone knows how the surgeons handles someone with severe sleep apnea. I have a C Pap,but even with it I still have to use positional therapy and sleep on my side. I'm scared that this will disqualify me for the surgery. If you or someone you know has gone through this I would love to know how it was handled.

Hello, I too have sleep apnea and when I had my surgery there was no issue with it. The anesthesiologist did discuss my apnea with me and I did ask if it was a problem and he said no. I never did ask him what if anything they do different to address it, but I came through surgery just fine.:rolleyes2:

Hi I have severe sleep anpnea too (100 times per hour). My surgery is scheduled for the 8th Dec and the only thing I have been told is to ensure I have my CPAP with me at the hospital. I am hoping this surgery will fix the sleep apnea...good luck

Most over weight people have sleep apnia and it will not prevent you from having the surgery. I also have sleep apnia and needed 16# pressure to stabilize. I have now lost over 50# and do not use the machine anymore:smile:
