waiting for approval

Recommended Posts

Hello Forum Members!

This is my first time in the Forum, I'm currently waiting for insurance approval. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield from Illinois.

I'm 40 years old and have sleep Apnea/High Cholesterol and Acid Reflux. I have attempted for years to loose wait and like many I end up doing the 'Yo-Yo Dieting"

My Primary Doctor recommended for me to have the "sleeve Gastrectomy". However I was told the that the Insurance would not cover the sleeve gastrectomy because is considered an investigational Procedure. So if in fact is not covered, my doctor suggested the Lap Band. Can someone tell me their experience with the Band?:D

Hi merrid. Welcome to the site. There are a ton of experiences on here, both good and not-so-good. BTW, there is a whole section on the gastric sleeve here. That might be a good place to start asking questions (sleeve vs. band questions). Good luck!

Hi Merrid,

I'm at the same place you are, waiting for the final approval. I'm having a band because that's all my insurance will pay for too.

I'm taking reams of notes right now about the liquid pre-op diet, what to pack for the surgery itself, and questions for the doc like, "Will I need to bring my CPAP machine to the hospital?"

Lena

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
