How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

It's a done deal! I was banded 11/6/08. I am amazed at how well I do feel. I was a little queasy coming out of the anesthesia, but no real nausea. Thank God! I've not been hungry. I do have the gas pains, but they're not horrible yet. The worst part for me is being still. I have so much I want to do, and I know I have to rest and recuperate, but it's hard for me. My dr. changed my diet from clear liquid x 3 days to one week. Then full liquid for 1 week, pureed soft foods for 1 week, then what ever I tolerate after that. So, for me it's been a really good experience. Best of luck to all of my fellow bandsters.

I was banded on the 6th and I am finally cutting back on my pain meds because I to hate to be in pain. I am still hungry.:( I am only doing Clear Liquids. I really want this to work so I will keep with the liquids. Hungry for a week will feel good, for a life of healthy living.

I was banded on Nov 6th and have been very surprised at how little pain I have. So far, I have only taken liquid tylenol 3 or 4 times. Dr. did not prescribe any pain meds, but that's o.k. as I haven't needed them. Gas pains have been more annoying then the incisions. On liquids for two weeks, then on to mushy. so far I haven't really been hungry, but that may be from having so much gas and bloating. Looking forward to being thinner for Christmas this year. Best of luck to all banders.:(

I was banded Monday, November 3. Left the hospital on the 4th, and took two pain pills that day. I did not need any additional pain meds. I am self-employed and returned to my office on Wed., November 5th to work for 5 hours (1/2 day), and for 3 hours on Thurs. the 6th, and 6 hours on Friday the 7th.

Going strong so far. I am down about 22 pounds total, and have lost nine since surgery.

I am now 3 days post op and finally starting to feel human. I have been questioning why I paid someone 14 grand to make me feel so shitty. Last night I was constipated, had major as pains, was so hungry I wanted to cry and in so much pain. The physical hunger has been the worst part for me. I am not a huge eater but liquids only is brutal. I am having alot of back pain. I have removed my steri strips and cleaned around the 5 incision (quite small) and covered with little round clear bandaids. I have lost 6 lbs already.

I was too in severe pain from the begining. I thought I was just a " delicate flower" but see lots more comments about the pain. My doctor (LBS FORT WORTH) told me to take GasX for the gas and the next day I was farting. Sounds gross but when you have gas pain, oh... it was great!!Liquids are begining to suck but getting just a bit worried that liquids are not filling me up. I have my first post op appointment on monday and we'll see what Dr. Smith says. :(

After a seminar, we all sat down and had a discussion on all phases of the diet. On the soft food issue, we were told it would be more texture food but easily to chew slowly and not hard on your new tummy. I made a personal list because I would like my family to eat similar of what I eat. I showed my nutritionist my list on consultation day and she was ok with it. I had no added sugar fresh fruit bowl with different melons, steamed veggies with broc, carrots and cauliflower, and a squash casserole with lean chicken. But this wont be my diet for another 2 months. I'm soo hungry for this now but tomorrow would be the end of my first week. Let's see what he says.

I was banded on Nov. 5 YIPPEE The hospital experience was uneventful--actually very pleasant. Since I am a transplant from MA,, there was much joking about my "accent" in the holding room just before the OR. I don't think I sound funny !

Recovery was smooth. Very little gas pain. Had ice chips soon after I arrived in my room. Then spent most of the rest of the day sleeping. My pain was well controlled. I had to start walking and continue four times a day. I am on liquids for this week, then soft food for the next 2. and gradually putting in lumpy food. I feel great and am so glad that I did this. I must confess that I did not want too many people knowing about the band, so I said I was having a hiatal hernia repaired--which I did) and left it at that. Good luck to all Nov. bandsters. Have doc appointment on Tues. anxious to see what comes next.

Surgery was Nov 5th. I'm pleased to say my pain has been minimal and very tolerable with the Hydrocodone prescribed for me. I pretty much stopped taking the pain meds on Saturday (Day 4).

I waited until Day 4 to have anything beyond crystal light and popsicles because I'm scared to death of eating anything with substance. I was approved for Full Liquids beginning Day 3 but I'm just scared!

So I finally let myself have an individual cup of sf pudding yesterday, and that stayed down well. So I had another pudding for Breakfast this morning. Now I'd like some watered down grits, but I'm still scared to eat. Any advice? Anyone else have grits or oatmeal so soon after surgery???

My friend tried oatmeal after 1 week and said it was a big mistake. I am still on liquids. I sip my chicken broth slowly and this is helping my growling stomach. I have not tried crystal light yet. I to am so afraid to try anything new. I do not want to throw up.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
