Hi! Hiatial hernias are really common especially in obese people. I don't think you should have much to worry about there. Your surgeon will probably fix it if he/she needs to. I'm having a really hard time waiting too. I have been working on this since June! I'm now waiting on insurance pre approval, then I will FINALLY get to meet with the surgeon. I'm trying to be patient, but I am going crazy just waiting around for the phone to ring!:bored:I hope you get your date soon, hang in there.

I certainly understand your stress. I am having trouble tracking my food and calories. I don't know why, but I am. Any suggestions on how to get with the program and do this? Went to my doctor a few weeks ago and didn't complete the form correctly. I had the food but not the calories. Any suggestions on where to get them?

I still have no surgery date also. They certainly keep you jumping through hoops to get this done, but I guess it is necessary to be sure the person is willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

Keep in touch..have you gotten your surgery date as of today - 10/29??

Best of luck.:)

Hi Pam, I starting using the daily plate. It is a website that you can log your food intake and it counts your calories for you. It's free, it took me a couple of days to really get the hang of it, but it worked out really well. I printed it out by the week and was able to give the printouts to my dietitian during my supervised diet. It's pretty cool, you program it and it helps you calculate how many calories you should be eating and you can also calculate your exercise too. I got the idea here at lapbandtalk, a lot of post op bandsters use it to keep track of there intake. I get to the daily plate from a related web site livestrong.com, you can do it either way. I hope this helps you!

Hi Matty,

I understand that waiting is the worst part. In my area we have to go through a long process before we are approved for surgery. I was banded last week and the whole process took about 11 months. I think patience is very important in this process because it is for the long haul. The band is a tool to help lose weight and not an instant solution. So hang in there, you will be banded soon enough. :) I highly doubt that your insurance would through you out because of your hernia. If anything, the weight loss through the help of the band would help to ease some of the pain caused by the hernia. Good luck!

Hey!

Cheer up, I guess you've already read that most of us banders have been a part of that club. Most of us had a waiting period. My was 3 months and a couple of weeks as well. I pray that you won't have to wait much longer:rolleyes2:

I don't think it was my insurance that made for such a long wait. I think it had more to do with the amount of people that want bariatric surgery. The program was not required for my insurance but I felt that it prepared me to have the surgery. I am feeling better after a week. I will be back to work as soon as the surgeon approves me.

I like getting a calorie book or you can go to calorieking.com and type in just about anything. Even fast food places. I had to wait almost a year from the time I first started researching it to actually having it done. But sooo worth it!!!!:smile2:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
