Bandsters Nov 17-21

Recommended Posts

My surgery was Tuesday, 11/18. I feel like I've gotten off pretty easy, too with the pain and complications. For me, the worst day with the gas was day 4, but even then it wasn't that bad. Today I feel almost 100%.

:thumbup:Just having the whole drama and worry about the surgery behind me is fantastic....I think if I asked my husband one more time "do you really think I should do this?" he was gonna kick me out.

Anyway, I stepped on the scale today and shockingly realized I've lost 14 pounds since the pre-op diet began. I haven't done that in so long....this is starting to get really exciting!!!!!

Hi All!!!

3 days post banding and I am feeling fine! I too feel I got off easy... I am sleeping well and have not even felt sick once. My pain is VERY manageable and I only took my pain meds for a day and a half. I feel awesome... so I know in another day or so I should feel 100%.

Hope everyone else is doing great too!!!

Hey Everyone!:smile2:

I'm doing very well - 5 days out and feelin' fine! Very little pain during the day, still taking a little pain med at night to help me sleep (I tend to toss and turn a bit).

Eating liquids and doing well on those - LOVE SF popsicles! My DD has become a Jello Mistress - she makes it for me nearly every day (the whole family loves it) and is a big help. My DH is wonderful as well - I could be on total bed rest if I chose to, but he's encouraging me to get up and get around when I feel like it. Still a little sore around the incisions, a little around the port, but no big deal.

I'm losing already - I didn't really expect to, but I'm down a few since being banded. I'm trying not to obsess about the scale...:cool2:

Glad I took 2 weeks off from work - sitting upright is putting a little more stress on the incisions than I thought it would, though if I had to go back on Monday (1 week) I could.

Loving the banded life - the head hunger is the worst part...I am satisfied with SO MUCH LESS food right now than ever before in my adult life.

Surgery was a breeze - had a coughing fit right after in recovery, but no biggie. I got up and walked the first night, dozed off and on most of the day, went home the afternoon after surgery. Feeling strong and good. Doctors eliminated two of my diabetes meds, took me down to 1 for diabetes and 1 for my blood pressure. I'm psyched about that!

Loving the banded life!:cool2:

ER, that is GREAT about your meds!

I am still doing okay, but in more pain tonight than I was this morning. More gas pain, more port pain. Still nothing awful though. Pain meds help as does walking and resting in alternating pattern. I have been sipping broth all day and Gatorade. I can move to full liquids now but have no desire to. I made some FF pudding and SF Jello to have later if I want. I did have one SF popsicle earlier today. Its weird to not want any food.< /p>

I've joined the band too! Just got home about two hours ago (stayed overnight), and I'm on oxycodone right now. Didn't sleep at ALL last night and had numerous issues with the hospital that had nothing to do with my operation.

Docs said my liver was fantastic, and everything went well. I was scheduled for 2:30 but they didn't wheel me out until 3:00. Hubby got beeped at 4:30 to meet with the doctors, and by the time they woke me up in the operating room to be sure I was still living, the clock in front of me said 5:00. So I'm guessing mine lasted about an hour and a half or so. Didn't get to my room until after 6:30pm.

Have absolutely NO shoulder pain/gas, and only twice have felt a slight gas twinge in the breadbasket area of my chest. Incisions are sore, but that's to be expected.

And like everybody else, not really hungry. The little bits of Clear Liquids they had given me were more than plenty.

Hope all are doing well!

Hello to all!!! I wanted to join this tread. I was banded on November 19th, and am doing really well. I'm on a full liquid diet, no pain meds and walking everyday. Im keeping really busy with my 2 Lovebugs (ages 3 and 16 months) which is good for keeping my mind off of food. I have no actual hunger to speak of, but must admit that I wok up in a panic this morning because I had a very vivid dream that I had eaten HAM!!!! I swear! HAM of all things. I am so excited, havent been on a scale since day of surgery, but Im sure things are in the down direction. MAybe i'll tip the scale fantastic in the morning. Good luck to everyone and I know if I can make it through these 10 more days of liquids I can make it through anything! Waht is everyone on liquids plan on doing for Thanksgiving? I'm cooking, but not eating and taking my liquids with me to every pit stop I make that day!!!

Hey Everbody, I'm so happy to see that everyone is doing fine. I've been relaxing went to the store just to get out of the house. The port isicion  is the onlything giving my the most pain right now. Lbs are coming off and I have my first pre-op appointment with the dr. tomorrow.

The swelling has gone down alot I can honestly say the 1st time in a long time I can hear my stomach growling letting me know it's hungry:biggrin:. now it's just getting adjusted to the eating habits.

Hi all! I am now 5 days post-op with the Realize Band. And the hunger has begun. I have been lucky up until last night with little to no hunger. Last night I started to get intense hunger pains. I go from feeling fine to feeling hunger pains so intense they actually bend me over and stop me in my tracks. I am nostalgic for the early days of no appetite! Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am hoping that this is normal. I go back to the doc on Wednesday, and I plan on talking to him then...but if anyone else has experienced this, I would like to hear about it! Then I would feel like it's a bit normal.

I can relate with the hunger pains... the first time i felt it... i was like... whoa! that actually hurts!

im still trying to get this food thing sorted out... but usually if i take a few sips of liquid the pain subsides...

some people have called this band hell the time before your 1st fill. i go on monday and i'm goin to ask how long before the first fill:scared2: my doc is a stickler on weight gain from now and what could be 4 weeks. I keep the grumbles to a lul with sugar free Jello or a tsp. of Peanut Butter since it's high in Protein. i'm so scared for anything else.

Yikes! I hope things settle down somewhat before my first fill because my doctor's office won't do a fill for 6 weeks! I started some soft foods today and that seems to help the hunger more than the liquids...I've just done such a good job of losing that I am terrified I will start gaining weight!

Hi all, I was banded on the 17th. The first four days I did nothing but basically sleep. I was too sore to do anything else. I'm disappointed because I expected to bounce back quicker than I have, meaning more time off of work. Now I'm having a new problem that started yesterday...constant diarrhea...ugh...Is anyone else having this problem? Also, I can't seem to get my energy back. I feel so lethargic, that even short walks make my legs shake.< /p>

I too had a little diarehhea problem on my 4th day after surgery. It went away on its own though. I have read here you can take ammodium ad if you like. You are probably tired due to not eating anything. I had to do this 2 weeks prior surgery and now 2 weeks after surgery, so I know how you are feeling. I don't have the energy to walk walk walk. i do get up and walk I shower and I lay in bed propped up on 4 pillows. I know this will get better I just look forward to the day i can eat something other than Jello, broth, water!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
