Opportunity to share medical tourism story

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Have you had lap band surgery outside your own country?

I'm a newspaper reporter in Austin, Texas, working on a series of articles about Medical Tourism. For the Web version of the series, I'm collecting stories from people who have traveled abroad for medical care (as a patient or a companion, for any procedure). If you choose to participate, your story will be posted online (without your e-mail address) to help tell the story from different perspectives. Our Web site is Statesman.com.

If you'd like to share your story, please send me an email (cmaclaggan@statesman.com) with the following information by Sunday, Oct. 12, at midnight Central Standard Time. You may send up to five photos in Jpeg format, no larger than 500k each. You can also send me a link to video on YouTube or a similar site, but I can't handle raw video files. In the subject line, write: aas99.

Name (you can go by first name, last initial, if you like):

Hometown:

When you traveled:

Where you went:

Procedure:

Cost of procedure only (estimate is OK):

Entire cost of trip, with travel (estimate is OK):

Tell me about your experience:

Thanks so much!! For those who choose to participate, I'll keep you informed on when the article is published and send you a link to your published story.

Best,

Corrie MacLaggan

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
