Side effects question

Recommended Posts

Hey, I got banded three days ago. So.....I know this is TMI, but since yesterday I'm having diarrhea. It's not crampy or painful, it's just all.....liquid. This is rough because yanno I'm doing my best to keep up with liquids and it seems I'm losing them just as fast.

My sister says she thinks my body is having trouble with all the meds I'm on (I am SUPER sensitive to medication of all kinds).

I think it may be because I'm only on liquids so it's not making things solid down there.

Anyone else have this "side effect" after being banded? And how long did it take to go away? I'm not worried yet but may put in a call to my doctor tomorrow.

Hi Karen,

I had "the runs" for around about a week post op - I was warned by the nursing staff that it would happen as a result of the barium swallow stuff they gave me before taking me to X-ray to check the position of the band before going home. Did you have this done? It maybe the cause of your problems.

Hi there,

I too suffered the good ol' runs for 3 to 4 days after surgery. My Dr. said it was the anesthia (?spelling) from surgery going out of my body. It got much better as time went on.

Take care and welcome to the journey!!! it is GREAT!!!!!!!

I had this too big time. I tried a bit of liquid yogurt and it cleared right up. I was about a day or 1 1/2 days early starting full liquids. Always good to check with your own doc.

Whew, okay good to hear others experience!! No, I didn't have a barium swallow but it was my sis who thought it might be the anesthesia and perhaps the harsh pain meds that might be causing this.

Always nice to know what is going on is normal...or at least to be expected!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
