Help! Why am I gaining weight?

Recommended Posts

Admittedly I freak out everytime that this happens, and I guess its not an extreme amount or anything, but still I haven't been losing weight in a little while and now I'm starting to put it back on!

I was down to 188, which was great considering I started at 277. This week I'm 196. I haven't changed my diet significantly, so its a bit confusing for me. I work out constantly, and recently I've started doing some more intense lifting. Mainly squats, which I can feel reaking havoc on my leg muscles this morning.

My question is, could some of the weight gain be related to liquids being retained in the damaged muscles from lifting? Or am i just getting plain fatter and should schedule another adjustment. I've only had 2 so far.

thanks,

Brendan

Yeah I agree, it could be your gaining muscle and that weighs more. Maybe cut back on weights and do more cardio? You've done awesome with just two fills! Thats amazing. Good luck!

Sounds like your doing great. Don't beat yourself up. How long ago was your procedue? Maybe talk to the people where you had it for suggestions. Sounds like it might be the muscle your adding. Keep up the good work.

thanks for the replies!

I had my surgery at the end of February. And yes, ive made good progress. I've been working out really hard for the whole time. But recently I've noticed that I'm able to eat some of my problem foods again, like bread! Thats why i'm thinking its time for a new fill.

I know people say the thing about building muscle, but i think the reality is that its really hard to put on muscle that fast. I think its gotta be Water weight, maybe from the swelling. I dunno, all I know is its frustrating to be at basically the same weight and gaining for a month or so solid after losing for so long consistently.

Maybe you guys are right and I'm over reacting, but you will see how obsessive you can get about it after it starts working for you!

Maybe it's time to switch up your routine. I have heard that if you do the same routine in your calorie intake and also with your workout, your body can get into a rut. Maybe if you change your calorie intake for a while, and also maybe change your workout routine. That could jump start your weight loss again.

Either way, be very proud of what you have done so far. Don't beat yourself up for those few pounds.

How is your hunger? Is it maybe time for another fill? I agree you're weight gain is due to adding bulk/muscles. Check with your doctor to see what he has to say.

Great job! You're an inspiration to all us newbies!

Just curious, have you increased any clothing size and have you ever measured your muscles?? Way back in the day I know sever people who put on about 15 lbs of muscle from working out hard. If you have not been gaining in waist size for example, but your arms and legs have increased in size, you could be putting on muscle weight.

You have to take responsibility for your eating. How is that bread and the other problem foods getting into your mouth? If you have another fill, will that stop you eating bread? You eat problem foods because you want to.

You have done really well so far with your weight loss. You perhaps need to re-focus and remember the way you lost the weight. We all have problems staying on track, so stay strong and positive.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
