Correct restriction or not?? Please help me...

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I need some help... I had my third fill last week. I wish I could tell you how many cc's I have by my doctor wont tell me that. When I ask, he tells me 'enough' ... ok, fine... so he doesn't want me getting hung up on a number... I understand that totally.

So, here's my situation. I can eat everything except for bread and bagels... I start to pb and get stuck, etc... you know the drill. But on most all other foods like chicken breat, veggies, (whole wheat) Pasta, etc...I do chew well and I have noticed that I am eating slower than I used to!!! The thing that has me worried is taht I can eat more than just a few bites. Not that much more, but more than the suggested 1/2 cup at a time... I find that it keeps me full for hours after and I am not hungry first thing in the morning like I used to be. I have also noticed I don't realy have a desire to snack inbetween meals, which is good...

I guess I know that it's working, to a point but with the amount I can still eat, even though it's all healthy stuff... does that mean that I maybe need a slight fill still???

Can the veterans help out the newbie???

Thanks,

Chi-Town Susie Girl

If you have all those things you mentioned and you're still losing weight, then I'd say you're at your sweet spot! No need to be so tight that you can't eat solid foods if you can do well a little looser. Sounds like you're doing great. Try not to overanalyze what you're doing. If it's working and you're feeling great, then don't worry if you eat more than you thought you would be. Eating is a good thing and if you're making healthy choices, then yay!!

Sounds to me like you're in a good spot. I don't think there's a reason to change as long as your still losing and able to eat enough of the right foods to give your body the nutrients it needs.

If something changes like you stop losing weight or start losing your hair, feeling weak, bleeding gums then I think it's time to see your doctor and have the fill adjusted.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
