Freaky thing happened today on the way to the sink..

Recommended Posts

... I fainted. Woke up laying on the kitchen floor. Not sure what happened but I feel just fine now. Maybe a bit weak but I didn't get much sleep last night. I have a doctor's appointment in an hour just to check things out. Anyone else have this happen or know if it could be band related at all? I'm thinking low blood sugar but really have no idea.

How scary! Had you eaten recently? Could be low blood sugar or even low blood pressure. I have been getting dizzy spells if I get up to fast, some days are really bad. My PCP thinks it is related to low blood pressure. My bp has always been low, even at my heaviest, but now it is really low but luckily I haven't fainted.

Keep us posted as to what the doc says!!

Oh Ezma..I hope you're ok!! I have fainted pre-band and it's the scariest feeling. My episode was from a previous back surgery (tried to do too much too fast post op) and everything was fine...but I was definitely shaken. Please keep us posted. Sending you big hugs!

Thanks guys. I feel all warm and fuzzy now from your kindness. Just got back from a CT Scan of my brain. The doctor thinks it's a freak one time thing from low blood pressure brought on by several things (not much to eat, pain medicine the night before, not much sleep, etc.). I too have tended to run on the low side for my blood pressure and 6 hours after the fainting, at the doctor's office, my bp was 100/60 which is a bit lower than normal for me. Because I had also had a vision problem a couple months ago he decided to do a CT Scan just to be safe. I feel fairly decent, just a bit bruised. Luckily I landed on my butt which still has some padding. Hit my arm and head but nothing big deal there. Should be back to normal tomorrow as long as they don't find anything from the CT Scan.

It is really freaky to wake up staring at the ceiling and wondering how you got on the floor. LOL

Thank heavens you are alright!

That's a wicked combination of factors for your body to adjust to (lack of food, medications, lack of sleep on top of low blood pressure)....time to get some rest AND make sure your caloric intake (through healthy foods - not icecream) is up.

Take care.

I'm glad to hear you are okay! How scary! Are you on BP medication? Maybe they need to change the dose or take you off of it if you are.

Nope, no blood pressure meds here. I've always had decent bp, even slightly low. In fact, when I was pegnant with my son I couldn't take the stairs cause I was so light-headed from it being low. I take after my dad, he's passed out twice too, by the way. Though his was most likely due to Calcium build up in his valves. He had a replacement several years ago. If I hadn't had a complete cardiac work-up prior to the band I would have worried about that.

Haven't heard anything on the CT Scan so it's probably normal. Plus today was just fine, I was back to normal. Just a weird, scary fluke I guess.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I called my lap band surgeon's office today and asked them about this. She said that it's something that they warn everyone with low blood pressure or if they are on blood pressure medication. Oops, guess she didn't think about it with me. LOL. Anyway, if you are on blood pressure meds or if you normally have lower blood pressure, be careful. If you start feeling dizzy, nauseous or light-headed, lay down if you can. Keep a good eye on your blood pressure while were losing so much weight.

Also, I just read that this can happen occasionally right after a fill. So if you fill light-headed after your fill, like me, be careful please.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
