Thanks Faith!! it feels great!! The boards have been a wonderful help! I get a great feeling of accomplishment when I can come and post a weight loss... hehe

Hey I was wondering.. I have only had ONE fill so far and I noticed that almost everyone has had 2 or more fills? Surgery was in October so I am thinking it is pretty much time for me to go and get another fill? How do you know when it is the right time?

I scheduled my fills when it was becoming difficult to control how much I was eating. I think I am at my sweet spot right now because I feel full before I have "licked my plater clean." I almost always leave something on my plate, something that was not acceptable to my mother when I was a kid. Now it feels good to leave something because I just don't want any more.

Well I think I might need one... I think I am eating more than I should ... I can eat a 6 oz steak with no problem.... Last fill was Dec 9th so I should probably get my butt scheduled... keep up the good work!

Hi all -

Went in for an appt today. I lost another 8 lbs - better than I ever expected. It never showed on my scale. I may need to replace it and get one that works better - or at all.

They are going to make me wait another 3 weeks before considering a fill - I'm doing well and they're afraid another fill might cause me problems.

Keep hanging in there all - we're making good progress!

Karen! Oh my gosh! Share how you have lost 60+ pounds since Oct 9th. I have the same surgery date but have only lost 35lbs. I work out 4+days a week and really watch what I eat. I would love any insider tips to your success. congratulations!

Morning izzyd -

I don't honestly know. That does include the 12 lbs I lost on the pre-op diet. I work out 4-5 days/wk (45 min cardio, 20 min strength), and count every calorie on SparkPeople and rarely go over 1200 in a day. I've found foods that work for me and they are my routine now (the same low-sugar oatmeal & banana for Breakfast every weekday) - maybe that has something to do with it.

It's hard work, isn't it though? Keep on going, and thanks to everyone here for the support.

Everyone is doing great. I may be losing slow, but I'm losing and that's what's important. They told me 1-2 pounds per week and I'm right on schedule now. I've got to get away from weighing every day (actually I weigh twice a day:redface:) because the scale does fluctuate -- even when I've walked and have been clean in my eating. I'm still crazy when it comes to food, diet, etc. I still have to cross that boundry of this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. I'll get there eventually. At least now I don't feel hopeless!

I don't think I'm ready for my 3rd fill quite yet. I eat about 1300 calories/day. There is a place here in LBT that people log what they eat for the day. That's helpful when you can see what the "big losers" eat in a day.

Go October Bandsters!

Wow - thanks for all the helpful info...Spark people is really nice. i did not know about it. I also did not know there is a place on lbt to record your foods. Thanks all for the hints. We are in this together. BTW i am a bit bored with people in my life saying you did not need to do that (the surgery) I could have helped you lose weight. Yeah, right, as if I have not lost weight dozens of times myself. The trick is finding a way to permanently change your life style! I really appreciate all you folks who really understand!

I agree. Sparkpeople is the second best thing I have ever done to lose weight. If I keep track of what I eat it helps SO MUCH!!!! I too have routine foods now.

I can't wait to hit that halfway point!

Holy cow people are doing so well!!!

My loss has been a bit slow but definately consistent. I had my 3rd fill last week...wow, it's weird to go for hours and then realize you haven't eaten....I think I must be close to my sweet spot.

Now I really have to exercise with some regularity to get the maximum band benefit.

It's really encouraging to see everyone doing so well and thanks for the continuing motivation!

Karen,

Thanks for the info. I know that eating first thing in the morning is important. I need to concentrate on doing that and keeping a log of what I eat. Thanks for the encouragement and you keep up the excellent work. You are an inspiration. Izzy

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
