7cc's in my 10cc band - not much restriction

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I had 5cc's put in my band during surgery & have already had my first fill 5 weeks after surgery.. now have 7cc's in my 10cc band but still not much restriction although more than i had before...

Has anyone else been in this position? I m worried cuz 7cc's seems full to not have much restriction?

My first fill was 7cc and I had very little restriction. We went up to 7.5cc and that was perfect for me, I stayed there for a year and a half. Then we went up to 7.8 and it was too much! Because of this, I always thought of 7 on a 10cc band as a starter fill, if that makes any sense.

It doesn't seem unusual.

I was at 6.8 at my first fill and did not have much restriction. I got another 1.5 at my second fill and it was really too much for me the first few weeks but I made it through. I have not had another fill since my second in April. The difference between too much and not enough is small. Just right for me currently is 8.3, but everyone is different.

It took me 6 fills and 8.2 cc's in a 9 cc Realize band to get restriction (thank God my doctor will let us have our first fill 4 weeks post-op and then every week after that if necessary, I would be going crazy if I had to wait months and months to have gotten to my sweet spot). On my last fill I went from 8 cc's to 8.2 cc's and that little .2 cc's made all the difference. I was also told not to be concerned about the fact that it's still early in the game for me and I only have room for .8 cc's left in my band.... they said most bands can hold more than what we're told, as long as they're filled carefully using fleuroscopy.... and once you hit that sweet spot, the next time you need a fill it probably will only take a tiny little bit to get you back to the restriction you had before.

trust me if it is slow it is very frustrating! lol. I'm to 8 cc's and not restricted... every fill i keep hoping but nothing yet really. most of my fills have been 1 cc so its filling pretty quickly. they can hold alot more my dr said my band could hold up to 14 cc's because i paniced that i was not going to get restriced not sure what size i am she said last fill that it is an 8 or 9 not sure which. maybe a 10 lol.

Hi Trina! Well, I am one of those who wants my band at a level that helps me control my portions but still lets me eat pretty much anything I want, in the proper portions. But I am still noticing a big difference, especially because I'm usually not finishing everything on my plate. For example the other day I grilled a salmon fillet and when it was done I thought "I don't really need all of that". I think it was about a 7 oz. fillet. Until recently I probably would have eaten the whole thing without thinking twice. I cut it in half and I ate that, and a small mound of mashed cauliflower (like mashed potatoes) and I was absolutely satisfied. Maybe I could have eaten the rest of the salmon (I'm not sure) but I just didn't want it or need it. This is totally new for me. Everything they say about learning how to listen to your stomach and your head and the band, is so true, because it's not eating until you are "full" like we used to do.

For Breakfast today, I had 2 hard boiled eggs, 3 slices of Tomato, and a piece of fat free cheese. I didn't quite finish the 2nd egg. I left half a slice of tomato and 1/4 of the slice of cheese. I COULD have eaten it all, if I wasn't thinking about it. But I just knew I was done. This is all so new and it's wonderful. I'm afraid to hope it lasts, lol.

I would say I'm not getting in the 1200 calories a day I try for. It's probably closer to 850 or 950 right now but I'm sure that will change in time.

Good luck with your next fill!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
