Lifeshape/Dr. Fusco

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

Has anyone been banded by Dr. Fusco through Lifeshape in Melbourne, Florida?

I was curious what to expect on August 25th for my surgery. I meet with the aftercare nurse on Tuesday. Then with Dr. Fusco on the 21st.

I was banded by Dr Fusco! March 24th 2008.

Donna is going to give you a ton of nutirtion info. I wish I would have taken my husband for that visit.

Surgery, for me, was a snap. I can't do any meds that even sound like codine so I only took liq Tylenol & it did the trick.

The liquid part made me miserable. At first...I drank too much juice...don't drink too much juice. To keep the sodium levels down...I made my own broths. But still, expect to deal with it & once you see weight loss, you'll forget all about it.....really.

Enjoy!

Donna was very nice. The whole staff seems very supportive and on top of things. I am excited about my surgery too! Can't wait till the 25th. What is the pre-op meeting with Dr. Fusco like? You probably had that this week, right?

I just had my pre-op with Dr. Fusco yesterday. He just came in and chatted with me for about 20 minutes. He went over some of the stuff that Donna went over (like how you really have to stick with the eating/exercising to be the most sucessful, etc). He also answered the questions that I had written down. It was a short visit and he is very nice!

Oh good....I was just curious because after that appointment I go to meet with Christie. I made those appointments back to back because I live in Titusville, and I figured if I am already in the area I would make my appointment for then. Only three more days for you! :) How exciting!

I won't be able to make Thursday's meeting because I meet with Dr. Fusco late that afternoon. Then I am going over to Christie's for my workout/body assessment. I will have to plan to visit some of the support groups. Only a few more days until the my big Band Day!

aremers- I have to ask because I am curious. I have surgery on Monday (25th) and I have read that a lot of people are bloated from the gas for awhile. Are you? I am curious because next Thursday (which will be a few days post op) I will have to go into school to meet my classroom parents and I am worried I am going to be all bloated.

I am glad you are feeling good, minus the gas pains!

yes, i am bloated! i'd say have some stretchy clothes for your meeting! you might be sore too. i am having the worst gas pains (more so than the pain from the incisions). i called donna and she said that some people react well to disolve-able gas-x. i just had my husband go get me some. i am also having some bad diarreah (sorry i know it's gross). donna said that's normal as well. where will you be teaching? i'm also a teacher but currently a stay-at-home mom. i taught elem. school until my maternity leave 2 years ago.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
