Moving port

Recommended Posts

Hey, has anyone had to have their port moved?? I was banded on 3/17/08. I have lost 45lbs. But even before I lost anything I had noticed that I could actually SEE my port from the outside. Now that I'm down half of my weight, it's becoming a real issue. It looks like a tumor sticking out of my skin. If I wear a one-peice bathing suit or tank top, you can actually see it. And when it rubs against something it's a real annoying feeling.

I only mentioned it to my doctor once. He said it would probably have to be moved eventually. Well I've decided I definitely want it moved. I would like to know if anyone else encountered this. If so, wouldn't it would be the doctor's mistake? I am a self-pay and don't really want to add anymore cost to this already expensive surgery.:confused2:

To answer your question, yes, mine sticks out quite a bit. I had my surgery June 18th '08, and my weight loss has been 28 pounds so far. My port is kinda in the middle of my upper stomach, whereas most people's is kinda toward the side (that's what my aftercare doctor said).

My port is above my waist on the left hand side, and was a bit noticeable but when really lost waist stuck up and moved, had to pay to have it resited so got stitched deaper, then is moved from the stitches, have had to have redone is deaper, but have lost more weight and sticks out like a little egg.

My sticks out like an egg also...I am still wearing tops that are too big because I am self conscious of the "lump". I will need a revision after I lose the rest of my weight. I am down almost 40 with about 10 more to go. I am self pay...anyone know what it will cost to fix?

My doctor has already told me that once I lose more weight where I'm not needing fills very often that I'll probably need her to go back in & put a low-profile port. Mine is very noticable. But right now it is so easy to get a fill that she said I should leave it alone as long as I'm still getting fills.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
