2nd fill experience

Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd fill yesterday. My doc initially put in 3 ccs in my 14 cc band for a total of 6 ccs. I sat up and started to sip some Water. At first I felt okay, I could feel the restriction in my chest, but thought I was okay. All of a sudden I felt clammy, sweaty, dizzy, and nauseous! I was like, hey doc I'm not feeling to good. He had me lay back down and removed 0.5 ccs. OMgosh, that was just enough. I felt sooooo much better :cool2:.

Pour man was so upset for me. I was like, it's okay :biggrin2:. I'm just glad that it happened here. Now I so know what it feels like to be too tight. No problems so far, drinking my Protein Shakes slowly and not needing but small sips at a time. I like my doc, he's so compassionate about his patients and was so cute last night .

WOW I hope mine goes just as well. Did you get your fill lying down? That is how my doctor does it and I just don't know. I did get a drink of Water sitting up and all was well. Just curious is why you have to lay down maybe because of the needle sticking out of ya?!?! LOL!!!

Ugh--I had my 4th fill wed. I now have 6.8 in a 14cc band. My doc put in a WHOLE cc this last time...I really didnt expect him to put in that much....wed night I could eat mashed pots no prob...he said do mushies if have problem back down to liquids. So I did the mushies wed and thursday...today I got some mashed pots and shredded bbq chicken....threw it up and the chicken was like really soft and moist....I can even feel yogurt going down....why is it worse now than yesterday? Should I go have an unfill or do liquids and see how it is next week. Is this normal? I really dont want to have to miss more work due to going to the doc (OH yeah plus hes OOT all next week)........

I had my 2nd fill today. 1cc this time for total of 3cc in 10cc band. My PA told me based on 10cc band, average amt for the sweet spot he's seen is around 6cc. My doc goes slow with fills. I had 1st 6wks post-op, 2nd another 6wks. Now I go 9wks until 3rd fill.

Anyways...this fill today was much easier on me than my 1st. Guess it helped to know what to expect this time-LOL! I drank my Water afterwards, no problems. Drove home but stopped by Wally-World for my clear liqs. Got out, walked in, then all of a sudden I got really dizzy. I had to sit for a while for it to pass. Now that I'm home, drinking my clear liqs, my usual 3 good sips are making me nauseous along with that "lump" feeling in my throat. No too bad so I can tolerate still drinking, just slow. I'll be curious to see how tomorrow goes. It's only been 3hrs since the fill.

I had my second fill today, first was 3cc and this time 2cc. Until today I have had barely any restriction. I was able to get the Water down after the fill no problem but later when I tried a yogurt smoothie (stonybrook farms) I could feel it and would have almost a lump like feeling and would burp before I had even swallowed it all. I am very hungry...my tummy is growling and feels empty and hungry...as I have hardly eaten anything all day. I was able to drink a protien shake, it took almost 20 min. I gave up on the yougrt after 3 sips. I tried some creamy Soup, itialian ice, vanilla milk and everything is very tight and I feel nauseous. I have tons of gas and it is very hard to tell if the pains that I feel are because I am hungry or from the fill. I hope that I feel better tomorrow or maybe I will call the doctors.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
