Tightness in the morning????

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since december 11th 07. I just had my first fill on tuesday. I have lost 105 lbs and have less than 30 to go. I actually did not loose weight for the past 2 months but it is comming off again. Myt question is this. It feels like the first thing I eat weather it is at 8 am or noon it is tighter than eating dinner. for instance I had 1/2 a hard boiled egg yesterday morning and it went down rough and felt like it was in my cheast for a while. then for dinner I had 1/2 a small antipast salad. and it went down withought any problem. ( I mean i felt it for much longer than I am used to )but it went down withought any discomfort. I am wondering if anyone has this issue.

ive stalked this site for a long time LOL, what you are feeling is very common. I am also curious why no fill til now? I also have no fill and seem to be losing weight so will not consider one for now. I like the fact i can eat pretty much anything, but just alot less without getting a fill quite yet.

I have this same issue in the morning. Some people are just tighter in the am. I haven't had a fill yet, because I have some restriction with the band alone and have lost weight without the fill. My Dr. wants me to wait to see how I do first.

Hello...my doctor told me that your cortisol levels are higher in the morning. It's better to wait about 4 hours before you eat unless you have hot tea or coffee. A hot liquid can help loosen your band a bit. I hope this helps!

my doctor is very conservative and since I had lost over 100 lbs in 5 months he wanted to wait . I am so close to my goal weight that he did not want me to starve

I think this is very common, I am also tighter in the morning than I am later in the day. I have a little bit of a rough time with Breakfast, it is usually mid afternoon before I can eat without a problem.

The first thing I do in the morning is have a cup of hot coffee or tea. I wait about an hour before I eat, and I'm fine. If I eat right away, I can't gag it down. The warm liquid does the trick. Once my fill loosens up, I can eat anytime, but for the first few weeks after a fill, I have to have the warm liquid.

I think it's wonderful you were able to lose without a fill. That is the optimal way to go. I went three months without one. there are a lot of people who can lose without a fill. I didn't have anything in my band at first, and I was able to lose very successfully, but it wore off after three months. Congratulation on your successful loss. No need to tinker with something that is working for you!!!!!!

I am the same way. In the morning I am tighter, by mid afternoon I loosen up a bit. The first few weeks after a fill, I cannot eat until around 3 P.M.

I have had the same situation. I was banded January 08 and have lost 68 pounds, have 16 to go for goal weight. My doctor told me if you can a egg of any kind for breakfast, your band needs a fill. I had my 3rd fill in July. I was on a plateau, but then the scale started moving again. I find that when I have breakfast, it is always harder than at night. Just keep up good work!!

Your esphogas swells at night, so it is perfectly normal to be tight in the morning.

My Dr says tightness in the am depends on how much Water you retain over night. That the tightness is from the extra water. Same goes with PMSing - the more water you hold the more tightness you have.

I will have my 3rd filling on Thursday .. Since the lapband was on May20th.. I always had a hard time to eat in the morning.. I love Adkins Protein drinks.. I drink it everyday in the morning.. I noticed if I wait approx 4 hours later, I finally can eat.. I couldn't eat bread or rice.. So far I lost approx 40 lbs..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
