  1. Wow...I still have some of those problems. Fortunately, since I've been banded for almost a year, I know my body shouldn't have some of that stuff (trust me, I've tried). I know I feel much better physically and mentally having this tool help me control my eating. I've learned that most things in moderation is okay. Right after banding is very hard. You are still dealing w/ a lot of emotions that got you where you are in the first place. You have to trust me when I say "IT GETS BETTER!" I know this doesn't help you now, and I'm sorry about that. You have to learn what works for you! Good luck to you!
  2. I don't think that drinking anything w/ carbonation is a good idea. Can you drink a margarita or bloody mary?
  3. Sorry for my frankness, but PISS on him! That doctor's bed side manor sucks! You can do anything you put your mind to. The LapBand is a great tool to help you achieve that goal. The best of luck to you!
  4. Way to go...what an ispiration you are. I like that you are so candid about it. I like that you know it's not magic. Congrats on your triathalon! Keep up the great work.
  5. Good luck. I'm sure it will go fine. It's the best decision I've ever made!
  6. Kudos to you! Unfortunately with a loss like that and so many other things going on in your life, your body can shut down and work against you. I am proud of you for moving forward with your weightloss. This site has helped me a lot. Take care and good luck!
  7. I've been advised not to use a straw; however, I do occasionally, but it does get uncomfortable for me.
  8. I hate that you are going through this. Could you have a virus? If not, it sounds like you need an unfill. I've been overfilled twice and it's painful. I've been told that when you get filled around your time of the month, you become more swollen which can cause like symptoms. Get better soon and call your doctor.
  9. Hello...my doctor told me that your cortisol levels are higher in the morning. It's better to wait about 4 hours before you eat unless you have hot tea or coffee. A hot liquid can help loosen your band a bit. I hope this helps!
  10. Let me just tell you that you are not alone, but it does get better. More than anything, this is a mental adjustment. I still get those feelings about not being able to eat what everyone else can. You have to take it one step at a time. Do you have a support group you can go to? Get on the chat here. This website has been my saving grace. You can do this!
  11. You are preaching to the chior. I think we all feel like that once in a while. You are only human. You can't change what you have done and thinking about what you could do to get to your goal is hard too. You have to take each day as it comes. Baby steps! You can't beat yourself up. We all got here because we were addicted to food. Rome wasn't built in a day. We are here for you!
  12. Hey...every fill for me, my port has been harder to get to due to scar tissue. If they are going to do ultrasound be happy...that will take less pokes. At one point, I got poked about 8 times. It is not that bad. I don't think it is that painful. I'm down 70lbs so each poke is worth it. Good luck!
  13. I'm so glad you talked to someone. I hope you feel better. Let us know how you are doing. Take care!
  14. Right after you are banded, you don't get much restriction and it is easy to go back to your old ways. My dr. said not to eat 30 minutes before or after you eat. Is there any way you can suck on a piece of candy. Since it's hot...maybe ice chips. It helped me train myself to not drink before and after meals. Good Luck...I hope this might help.
