OK, what am I doing wrong? I've only lost 12 lbs since surgery on 7/16/08 and it seems like everyone else here has lost 20lbs+

I got my first fill today. 3ccs in an 8 cc band. When we did the barium test it went straight through so the doctor said I could probably use more but since it was my first fill he wanted me to wait a couple of weeks to see how I feel. If I have no limited restriction, then he said come back and get some more.

You're not doing anything wrong everyone is differant, 13lbs of mine was on my 2wk pre op and 14lbs since surgery on 7/22. they say if you lose before a fill it's a added bonus alot of people gain after the post op diet and before their first fill. so keep up the good work that's 12lbs you don't have to worry about anymore.

Hey everyone. We are all doing so well. Yeah us!!

I had my first fill today and got a total of 5cc. I don't feel any different yet, but only time will tell. I am down 41 pounds sinc pre-op. So i guess roughly 5-6 lbs a week. I really hope I can keep up that rate. I am now jogging a little with my walking and not skipping a day. If I don't exercise, I get really grumpy.

Doesn't it feel great to be getting smaller? Doesn't it make you all feel like you can accomplish so much?

I also have to admit that I did eat an oatmeal cookie the other day (I had baked them for my dad), but I did eat it very slowly and only had one (as opposed to oh 10 or so). It was good and I didn't really feel guilty about it, just added about 5 minutes to my walk.

Are you all doing well with the food selections? Has anyone else indulged?

Keep up the good work butterflies:thumbup:

Congrats on your loss!

If I want something, I eat it...just smaller portions and only occasionally:-) I intend to have a normal relationship with food, not insane never having a drop of sugar. My link to my food diary is in my sig if anyone wants to see.

I'm near my half way mark! Had my first fill today (It wasn't painful at all!). I had 1cc put in during surgery (10cc band). He gave me 2 more for a total of 3cc's.

So far I feel no difference, although I was doing OK with just 1cc (slow losing). I do hope I get more restriction then I had before.

Congrats to everyone else on their loss!!!

I loooooooooove my band!!!

Have you lost 43 lbs since being banded on July 6th or did you lose some pre-op?

Don't feel bad!! I'm losing more slowly too. it didn't help that I gained a little back. I just got my first fill on Tuesday and it is too loose as well. I am still not back down to the lowest I have been since surgery. But think of it this way for me 15 lbs is more than I have lost in any month before.

I was banded on July 3rd. I went for my first fill 2 weeks ago where he put in 1 cc in my band. I called a week after the fill and told him that I was still very hungry & not satisfied so I went in today for my second fill. He put in 2 cc's today. As of today, I have lost 35 pounds from my lap band surgery date. I am pleased with my results. As everyone else probably feels, I would like for it to come off faster, so I guess I should be happy that I am continuing to lose. I still do not feel restriction. I did get satisfied a little sooner than from before but I feel that it still isn't where it should be. How do you know when you are "there"?

I was banded on July 30 and started pre-op diet on July 4. Pre-op lost 23 pounds and as of yesterday a total of 37 pounds. Can someone help me with the ticker ? I would like to add one to my profile.

I was banded 7/22 and have lost 12 pounds. I didn't expect big losses at first as I had previously lost some weight. I am happy as I only want to lose about 2 - 4 pounds a month. I find slower is better for me.

Good luck all.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
