I guess every doc is different..oatmeal is actually on my list under Full Liquids phase. I can have things like really watered down oatmeal and refried beans. I was worried about oatmeal being so "sticky" but It worked out fine. :P

Wow, I did it I made to soft foods! Yippee!!!! My doctor allows oatmeal too. I did my post op to day and everything went well. I wish everyone well that is going for surgery next week good luck and to be patient.

Hello August Allstars-

I was banded on Thursday and had to stay in the hospital overnight due to my insurance. When my doctor was putting the lap band in, he noticed I had a hernia, well he fixed that while he was in there. I am in a little pain and I continue to walk to releive the gas. I am looking forward to my new life.

robint, I was the same way. Hiatal hernia found and fixed during surgery. Congratulations on your surgery!

my surgery is on the 29th (one week...so soon, yet so far away!!) and my doctor allows for oatmeal during the liquid phase, too.

I get oatmeal also. But since I'm not an oatmeal fan, I bought cream of rice, which is also allowed for me starting next week. I figure that Hey! Maybe it will taste like rice pudding, which I LOVE!!!! I could OD on rice pudding. Thank God Kozy Shack has a SF version. Whoohoo!

Am I just dreaming that Cream of Rice will taste as good as rice pudding? LOL!

Hello everyone! Today was my first THICK LIQUID day. I had my protein drink for breakfast. For lunch, I had potato soup. I mashed all the potatoes so I wouldn't have any chunks and added more liquid to thin it down some. IT WAS THE BEST EVER! lol (especially after thin liquids for 3 weeks)

I ate lunch about 12:30. It is almost 8:00 now and I'm not hungry yet! although I have been drinking my water and tea. I feel really good. I think I did eat a tad bit too much soup for lunch because I was hurting just a little but it went away fast.

I am just so excited that I finally don't feel hungry like I have been with the thin liquids and also because I'm not sore anymore.

Good luck to everyone that is just starting!!

Paula! Shut Up! I had a protein drink for breakfast and potato soup for lunch also! Wow! I bought some Campbells Garden Harvest soup, threw it in the blender and added a ton of pepper. It was really terrific. I think I'm going to be able to top off my day with just liquids also. Great minds think alike, I guess. LOL! Good luck to you! Bonnie

glad you are feeling well and congratulations carolynfletcher!

Congrats to those recently banded!! I can't wait until surgery is over so I can start to get some different flavours into me!! Potato soup sounds so great just now!

Congrats on the surgery! Yesterday was one week since my surgery. I am mostly sore-free now. I started my thick liquids today.

Vegasgirl,

I busted out laughing when I read your post! I had baked potato soup from a restaurant. This evening my husband made some homemade baked potato soup. I'm thinking about making some veggie/beef soup and putting mine in the blender.

What other things do you plan on eating this week for your thick liquids? I need ideas.
