Hi Mary, my doctor has all of his patients on this Carnation Chocolate shake, they have no other flavor but chocolate & oh how I wish they did.At the beggining it was all good I'm suppose to take a shake every 3hours for a total of 5 shakes a day,but lately I have been taking 3 per day and the only good thing is that I have surgery on Monday

Hi everyone. Im new to this site. Im getting banded on 20th August - just 4 days away, in Australia. Im excited and very very nervous. Just want to wish everyone luck for their surgeries!:biggrin2:

HI I got banded on Aug 5 and have lost 12 so far. I am on pureed foods for 2 more weeks then soft foods. I ate a couple of chips today really tiny pieces and I did ok. I know I am not suppose to have them but OH MY GOD they tasted sooooooooooooo good. LOL Well good luck to you and we are on our way down. HOORAY!

Ok, I'm back. I was banded on the 14th. Everything went great. I had lost 21 lbs by the morning of my surgery, and since surgery, I've gained 3 back. I think it's gas since my belly feels like it's about 7 mths pregnant. But I've been walking, outside and on my treadmill. I'm on liquids only. I take 3 TBSP for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each of Isopure drink, Broth, and Jello. That's it. 59 calories a day. Not hungry, but the Baconator commercials from Wendy's look darn good!

I had a private room which was a surprise. My nurse was great, and then she left, and I got another girl who was very diligent, but not really any personality. I got Heparin shots 4 times a day, which I tolerated. I could have slept thru the night, but kept getting woke up by nursing for this and that med. A little shoulder pain the first day, but gone the second. The only pain I have is the incision pain from I suppose, the biggest hole. I have a little metal button bandage below my boob towards the left side of me, and I'm presuming that's the port. I'm itchy all over the front and I guess that means I'm healing. I have to take Zinc for healing and all my vitamins taste like crap. Yuk!

I'm sooooooo glad I stayed overnight. I was in lala land that first day and feeling a little pain. I honestly don't know how anybody could go home that first day. And I had my surgery early. I think it should be a requirement to stay overnight. Anyway, I didn't get out till after 6pm the next evening. Late discharge waiting for the doctor. And with all that dieting and weight loss, he said my liver was still big. Dissapointing, but everything went well. So, I'm happy. My doc also sent me a dozen roses for the beginning of my new life. Very sweet. I never regretted my journey for one moment.

Welcome back, VegasGirl! Glad it went as well as it sounds it did. Remember to keep up on your fluids; I got behind on my fluids the first day home, got dehydrated and felt awful.

So glad everything went well for you. Roses, what a sweet Doctor. I stayed overnight also, and wouldn't have wanted to do it any other way. Congrats on the surgery being done. Can't wait to hear about your adventure.

Hi my name is Bertha I have been on the liquid diet since July 29th I can't take it any more. I have lost 36 pounds, I just got back from vacation and i'm sorry to say i ate 2 hot dogs and wheat french toast. I have my surgery on Tuesday August 19th I have to do the fleets thing on Monday all day to clean out my system, I started at 456 I am now at 420. Im worried that they won't do the surgery because of my liver any thoughts please write me. Thanks

Bertha, 36 lbs! OMG, that's awesome! I've heard of lots of people who cheated on their pre-op diets and still got their surgery. It sounds like your doing really well. I wouldn't worry. I'm on my second day of pre-op liquids and think I'm going to lose my mind I'm so hungry. We have to support each other. We CAN do this! Failure is not an option.

berties, I lost 21 lbs before surgery and my liver was still big. But it went well. My brother was 450+ and they were able to do his surgery laparoscopy, so I would just continue as you are doing, which seems to be good. Just make sure to do your preop cleansing and don't cheat then. I am just so glad that I didn't have to make any bowel movements. Also, I kept thinking that I was sooooo happy that I wasn't on my period during this whole thing. The timing was perfect. So, you will be great. Good luck!

Yes, I have been sipping water all day. I think I will be lucky to get in 2 bottles today. I feel like I have to have it sitting next to me all day. I don't want to sip too fast. But I feel great so far. Just soooo pregnant! LOL! I hope the gas goes away by Wed. Thanks!

wow all you who have not been told about the liver shrinking talk to your doctor again because this is very important theliver lays on top of your stomache and is very heavy and in the way jsut check onit maybe your doctors know something mine didn't and i didn't have to starve but safety first and it didn't hurt to lose a few pounds so good look to you and god bless

Hi,I'm getting banded on Monday Aug 18th & can't wait:smile2: I have a few ?s though from reading the massages here I read that not every1 had 2 be on a diet,I have been on a chocolate shake 4 the past 11 days & even though I'm having my surgery monday I'm getting a little tired of it,I don't think I'll ever have another chocolate shake in my life after this.Does any1 know why some people have to be on a diet and some people don't?:confused2:

Hi, I wonder the same thing. I am getting banded on the 22nd, Friday which is my 38th wedding anniversary! My doctor only requires 2 days of clear fluids. I am going to do protein on my own starting tomorrow and then the clear. His post op is about the same as everyone else. Good luck to all of you!
