  1. If you drink too much, and you need to throw up, what happens? Does it move through the band and come up or just stew in the stomach? Has anyone had this experience? What about stomach flu too?
  2. How do you twist or erode a band? If you have to get it removed, can you get a new one? I don't have a problem, but want to avoid it. I have had band for 1 yr and would be lost without it.
  3. why did you have to have your band removed, and can you get another one?
  4. I can not stop the sugar, what is the deal? I can only eat a few ounces of protein (chicken, meat, fish) and then a few bites of some sides, then done. BUT, there is always room for dessert. Ice cream, cookies, cake, it goes down just fine. ??? It is like the healthy stuff is hard to eat and the sugar is easy. UGH- I have lost 22 in 4 months, but it would be 32 if I could get over the sugar problem...any advice?
  5. My friend said she read your "under 200"post and you sounded like me. I started at 188 and I am at 180 now. I had surgery 8/15/08 and I have had one 3 cc fill. I don't feel any restriction. Kind of scay after paying as much $$,$$$ as I did. Where are you located? I am in Plano (Dallas) TX.

  6. My baby is 3 1/2 months. I just got banded 2 weeks ago. You will need to pump 24 hours after surgery and dump. You need to get the anethsia out of your system. My baby is 15 pounds and still hard to carry. I had help for 3 days after surgery. Just try to limit the lifting and the way you lift. Good luck. My baby is solely nursing and they just bumped my calorie intake by 500 so I would not be so weak.
  7. I am looking for a band buddy with similar situation. I am 32 yrs old, I have 2 small children (girl 3yrs, boy 3months). I live in Plano, TX and I am not telling my friends about my surgery. I got banded yesterday 8-15-08. I am starting at 188 lbs and 31.9 BMI. Is there anyone out there to buddy with? I got the band to help with my self esteem, self image, set a good example for my children, avoid health problems in the future, and I had back surgery 5 yrs ago, the extra weight is hard. Let me hear from you- so far the first 2 days are pretty tough.

    DFW Area Bandsters

I was banded 8/15/08. I went through ivital, Dr. Cribbins. I paid cash, no insurance. I don't qualify, starting BMI 31.9. I am 32 yrs old, married with 2 kids. My daughter is 3, my son is 3 months. Anyone close by?
  13. What do you mean am I able to keep liquids down? Are yours coming up? I have not vomitted since right after surgery when I had to drink some stuff and they x-rayed me. I am drinking protein shakes, proteins shots, water, tea, vitamin water. I am not doing 3 table spoons of this, 4 tablespoons of that...I am not sure if I need to keep up with everything like that. I don't feel like my instructions were to do that. ?? How are you? I am going to have my husband remove my onQ pump today so i can shower.

    band buddy

My baby is 14 pounds and YES I have help right now. I had surgery on Friday and I will not pick him up until tomorrow. I switched his carseat to a britax (big one). I won't be able to carry him and the infant carseat together anymore. My doc said that I should not lift anymore that 15 pounds for 4-6 weeks but that is not going to happen. I am nursing my baby too, so right now my hubby or nanny or mom is bringing him to me, burping him for me. You will need help for at least 3-4 days after. I am not sure how much your little one weighs. I also self paid. Do you have anymore children, do you want anymore? Were you thin as a child/teen? How much did you gain with pregnacy? I gained 60 wtih 1st, and 50 with secind.
  16. I was banded 2 days ago and I would love a band buddy...
  17. I am considering the band. I just had my 2nd child 11 weeks ago and don't plan on anymore children. I have always been a bit overweight and want to be thin! I was 140 at my wedding and that is my goal, I am currently 185. I think my biggest fear is how to hide it. I would not tell anyone if I do have the surgery. How do you hide only eating 2 bites of food??? I workout 4-5 days a week and I quit soda about 7 years ago, along with french fries. Please give me an example of what you can eat after all the post surgery stuff is done. Will I be able to hide this from everyone? thanks.
  18. did you ever get any answers about nursing with the pre and post op diets? My baby is 11 weeks and I am meeting with a consultant tomorrow about the surgery. I am nursing and would like to continue (since my 1st child wouldn't nurse). When are you doing the surgery?

    How do you hide it?

My husband is going to meet with the consultant with me on Wednesday, I met with her last week. I want to have the surgury (less invasive than lipo-right?). I want to have my body not be an issue with "me" anymore. My self image is not like it used to be and my confidence level has gone down. Of course my husband and immediate family will know about the surgery, I just don't want any one else to know. I guess I am embarrassed that I am resorting to surgery. It would be easier for me to say I am getting lipo or a tuck. I am not overly obese so, yes, I am paying cash for the surgery. I guess it is good to hear that the loss is gradual so it doesn't raise any eyebrows. Everybody that knows me, knows that I am always concerned about weight. Can this be my secret or will it get out???
