Sorry if you see this more than once. I've posted on seveal threads because I wasn't getting much response:

I am 5 weeks post op. Had my 1st fill nothing changed could still eat anything. Had my 2nd fill on 2/2. Here's my dilemma. I am having trouble eating most stuff. I'm trying to determine the difference between being stuck and having restriction.

So, at first bite of chicken (size of dime chewed a lot) I am still getting stuck. So obviously this does not mean restriction because it's my first bite. So in my trial and error testing I found I could eat Chili. So last night I wanted to see if I ate a cup of chili would I get full. I didn't. It seemed as though I could have eaten three cups.

So, today I tried eating a piece of chicken again and each piece got stuck. So it's taking me an hour to eat a piece of chicken, but I never seem to get full. Maybe because it takes me so long to eat it or maybe because there is no restriction.

So my question is there really seems to be no restriction but everything is getting stuck. I feel like I need another fill so I can have restriction but with another fill Im not sure I could eat any real Protein.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

I used to have a 4cc band , but my pouch dilated and I had to have a revision. My doc put in a 10 cc band. Now I have 10.4cc's in my band and can still eat more than when I was at my sweet spot with my previous band. I'm getting worried. How much can they overfill this thing? I gained 22 lbs from when I had my surgery till now. I've got to get to the sweet spot and start losing again. I'm getting desperate.

im a little late to the party but i figured it couldnt hurt to reply. you say youre taking dime sized bites. ive read that many people need to take bites about the size of a pencil eraser. i know its teeny tiny but youre not likely to get stuck if you chew the bejezus out of a bite that small. also, many banded people have problems with chicken, especially if its too dry.

so id suggest smaller bites.

:lol:Too funny.. I showed my doctor some horse pills I'm taking for back pain and he says, " well you shouldn't be able to swallow those pills", I replied, I'm actually swalling two at a time, I need more restriction but he still only gave me .5 cc now I'm at 5.5.

I have 7.5cc in my band and barely feel restriction- can eat whatever and however much i want- the NP at my doctors office looks like she doesnt believe me

is this abnormal?

Hi everyone

I am at 7cc now and have never had good restriction except for the 1st fill. I had a minor fill 0.25 a couple of weeks ago and strangely I feel less restriction than before. The nurse said because they took everything out to measure and then put it back plus 0.25, some times the Fluid can settle differently so this can be why it feels different. My doctor also said he would be expecting me to reach the elusive sweet spot between 6cc and 8cc so here's hoping I get there soon

I have been at my sweet spot since my last fill in January. I'm at 6.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. My fills were done slowly -- after an initial 2.0 cc's my surgeon only gave me about .250 at each fill - I usually needed fills about every 12 to 15 lbs. lost, or about every 6 to 7 weeks. I have great restriction, I've only pb'd twice in the year and a half since surgery.

I am at 5.5 cc, I have great restriction. My doctor put this in in Feb. I have continues to loose the weight, sometimes, slowly, other times, fast. I have trouble eating steak, and Tomato, unless the tomato is cut tiny enough to avoid the skin. All in all, I am satisfied with the restriction I have. I have lost about 25-30 lbs since my fill in Feb. Karen

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've heard in the past that they will just place it again if/when your stomach is healed from the slippage and can take it. Good luck and don't fret. You did it once and you can do it again!

I'm glad to hear that you have so much because I have 6 something in mine, with no restriction and they don't believe me. I had to have my lapband redone about 4 months ago and this new band you don't have the wall (meaning you eat one more bite and it will all come back up) like the old band did. I'm having to learn things all over. But it's hard when you are able to eat anything you want and how much you want. I have to schedule another fill and they aren't going to be too pleased with me. They say that they watch out for things that many other facilities don't because they want us to work at losing weight and not just rely on the band. Well, if I wanted to do that I would have never got lapband. My main reason to get it was for it to do most of the work for me and to train me that eating right and little is the way. But when you have no restriction its hard to push it away. Does this make sense?

I feel the same way you are right now. First of all new to the post, but you get great information on here. I've recently posted that the NP doesn't believe that I have no restriction right now I'm at 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I can eat anything and i have gained 15lbs. She told me the last time I was in there that I should feel great restriction and I shouldn't rely on the band to do the work for me. I'm trying here, but why did I have the surgery IF I wasn't going to rely on the band to help me!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
