I'm a newbie, be gentle. :)

I'm 28, from Canada, tentatively going for surgery down Mexico-way in November. I was wanting it done sooner but ended up developing DVT as a result of taking the pill to combat all the unopposed estrogen going through me as a result of all the extra weight I'm carrying. I'm now on blood thinners until at least September.

It's a vicious cycle. Gotta love it, eh?

So I figured I'd pop in here and do the introductions thing, before I start randomly popping up into other peoples posts with a million questions. :)

Thank you for the welcome gone 4 ever and TexGal.

I'm the painfully shy type, even on the internet, and it's taken me two weeks to work up the nerve to post a reply back.

I've got my surgery date officially booked now for Nov 5th though, which seems soooooo far away, but at least I have lots of time to prepare for it. (And lots of time to work up to posting more.. hehe)

Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome Tristessa! Will you be doing a pre-op diet or just hanging in there til November?

Feel free to join one of the challenges going on if you want to start dropping some weight or working out now. Losing now means less to lose later, right?

I've started not a diet per se, though I refer to it as the pre-pre-op diet, but just cutting down carbs (I've reduced my carb intake by about 80% in the last three weeks) and eliminating caffeine and carbonated drinks, and I'll spend the next couple of months working on reducing portion size and working on the not drinking during meals thing. Definitely a bonus of having the surgery months from now, I have lots of time to read through peoples experiences and try out different things and see what works for me.

I'll definitely be joining in on the challenges! This is my year to change me. I quit smoking January 18th and now I'm working on losing the weight, excersizing more (which is becoming a lot easier -30lbs) and breaking out of the "wallflower" mentality. I think that's the hardest, for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
