Best of luck for smooth travel and easy surgery, and quick recovery, Caybachman! If you follow most of the rules, most of the time, you will lose 50-100 pounds in the coming year. Hold that thought!

The shoulder pain is referred pain from your diaphragm. It gets stretched during surgery and is irritated. The nerve endings for it are near the nerves for your shoulder, so your brain gets confused and thinks it is your shoulder hurting! Anesthesia has nothing to do with it.

That sounds good to me, I was just saying what I was told, not Anesthesia, the gas they use to expand you so they have room to move your liver, anyway that was my understanding.
Charlene K. I purchased the Magic Bullet too but have not used it yet. What are you making your shakes with? Are you mixing them with the Bariatric Advantage? I am on the optifast but I got the premixed ones. I am anxious to use mine too. I wish you the very best and I will check into the 50's, haven't been over there in a while.

I am mixing powdered Bariatric Advantage with half a cup of skim milk and crushed ice. I also add sugar free orange syrup that I use with lattes. Extract works well too. Put the Optifast in the Majic Bullet and pulse it for a few seconds..it should fluff it up.

It is from the gas CO2 used to expand your abd. cavity during surgery. The diaphragm and the shoulder share some of the same nerves - predominantly the Phrenic Nerve. The Phrenic Nerve arises on each side of the neck, from the 3rd, 4th and 5th cervical spine roots and passes downwards between the lungs and the heart to reach the diaphragm. Impulses through the nerves from the brain bring about the regular contractions of the diaphragm during breathing. When the C02 gas irritates the diaphragmatic nerves, that pain is then referred upwards through the nerve connections, eventually landing in - and aggravating - the shoulder.

I got banded the 3rd. How are you feeling. Im feeling good. Its weird though I cant tell when Im hungry or not. You?

Hello all! I am heading to a family members house today until my surgery. WHICH IS ON WEDNESDAY!!! AHHHHH!! I may not have internet connection there so I just wanted to tell all the July to-be bandsters good luck and keep us all posted!

My surgery is tomorrow! I am excited, and a little nervous! I just hope all goes as expected!

Hi all July bandsters!

My surgery was July 2nd and it went very well. Feeling a bit better each day and happy the surgery is behind me. It's been tough recouperating and getting comfortable sleeping at night (I usually sleep on my side and tummy so you can imagine how I long to do that!). But I know it will all be ok. I wish you all good luck with your up-coming surgeries and a good recovery! Take care my friends!

Yes you can! You can do this. It's all good! I will say a prayer for you.

I'm glad to hear things are going well and getting better for you. I'm a stomach and side sleeper, too, and I am not looking forward to sleeping on my back. Or sitting up. But I've done it before and I can do it again. This, too, shall pass.
