HELLO ALL! I was banded yesterday...and I am feelin pretty good! Must admit, my abdomen is pretty sore, especially my port site. Getting up and out of bed is sometimes hard, but I know that pretty soon it will all start paying off. My doc has me on 1 week clear liquid, 1 week full liquid, 2 weeks mushie foods, and then on to regular eating habits. How i everyone doing?

Josh

Freedom is only a word until it is upheld by the roots of its meaning….. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE JULY BANDSTERS!!

Annabella that does sound very strange that your Dr. filled you during surgery! You should ask hime why he does this. Does he like experimenting with patients?? I'm no Dr., but I've never heard of this practice (fill during surgery) before! It seems like that won't give the band time to heal in place.

Trudy, I'm being banded on 7/24 at the OCC! I'll be arriving there on the 23rd for my pre-op bloodwork. Hope to see you there!

Mrs J.J I live in the Northville/Novi area of Mich. I had my surgery done at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, my surgeon was Dr Andre Nunn. Are you from MI?

getthin, your right! Its very strange b/c not only did he give me a fill but I have 40% restriction. That's a lot! I talked with his assistant b/c I was told NO fill at surgery by the nutritionist and then one wk later to find out I have 4cc's was shocking. She said he fills everyone so that the band is tight and they have restriction from the start. Iam curious to know if he's the only surgeon with this practice. I do know he strays from the other drs' orders. All the other drs in the practice have you on liquid for 2 wks post op but Dr Nunn only does 4 days liquid. 1 day of that is prior to surgery. Iam getting the feeling he does things his way.

Hey Josh, glad to see you made it and didn't get sick!! Keep us posted.

Well Annabella good luck with your unfill...I hope it all works out well. Then you should probably have a little talk w/your Dr. Keep us posted!

I went to my final consult today, had pre-op x-ray and lab work, will be banded on July 23rd. Found out today I will have to stay overnight was not aware of that but I guess its for the best. Also, found out i'll be 3 wks postop liquids.

Still excited!!!

Josh, glad to here your doing well. And congrats to all others.

Josh I am glad you posted. I guess it is a mother hen thing that i was worried about you. Glad to see you are doing well.

I don't have a port site. Do others?

Gosh, if you have to get enough protein then you can't eat anything else hardly, right? That is 3 low carb/high protein slimfast to get your 60 grams of protein needed. So then how do you eat other things? So confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not restricted at all either. So if you are not suppose to have a drink with food an example would be Slimfast (isn't that a drink) and then some soup or applesauce. So when do you have your protein drink?

Thanks for letting us know how you feel after surgery Josh. Have a speedy recovery! And good luck to all July bandsters.

Well, let us know how you're doing! I know that's worrysome! But, there are all sorts of doctors who do things their own way. Mine is very laid back, but he did stress what was MOST important to follow.

Mrs J.J I live in the Northville/Novi area of Mich. I had my surgery done at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, my surgeon was Dr Andre Nunn. Are you from MI?

I live in Sweden, I was curious if it it was a surgeon from the European area that did this, that is why I asked.

Please keep us informed on how you are progressing.

It would be interesting to hear from others that have had their band fitted by Dr Andre Nunn.

Susan, I stopped eating solids. I am following Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band for what I should eat now. I was not getting enough Protein hardly any and that is what caused weird cravings that i hadn't had in years. I can't imagine doing liquids for 3 weeks. This book says that you can have some soft foods on day 7. Days 13 til 15 you can add fish, toast and crackers, Pasta and veggiees that are well cooked. He is a doctor thta wrote the book. I am so confussed I don't know what to do. I guess every one's diet is different. I am seeing a doctor on Monday. Feeling better but there is still blood in my phlem(sp?). I will not be able to work even tomorrow. It is unbelieveable I can usually make very good money and now there has been nothing for a week! I just think of The Secret and I will be fine.

Hope evey one is doing very well!

Joiful, I think I have said this in another thread but coughing up blood (or even thinking you may be) can be very serious, especially following a surgery. I don't want to frighten you but serious complications from any surgery can and do happen, and coughing up blood is a symptom of these things. Please consider seeing a doctor about this as soon as you can.

In terms of your diet, if your surgeon didn't give you any instructions to follow, it sounds like following this book you've found is a good idea. And in terms of work and money, your health is more important than those right now--just do what you need to do to get better.
