New and Anxiously Waiting

Recommended Posts

Hi everone, I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to jump in here. My journey on the lapband road thus far is as follows: I went to the informational meeting last fall, went to the first meeting with the dietitian, at that point decided to try WW again. I was told if I wanted to go the lapband route later, I could pick up where I left off. I'm now ready to go that route but unfortunately, we have changed insurance since then and the new company does not participate at the previous hospital. So I'm starting from scratch. I am 55 years old, 5'5" tall and weigh 220 with hbp, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea.

Thanks to all for all the information you've all posted. This is a great place to be. I have lots of questions and concerns, but am seeing some of them being dealt with on here already. Unfortunately, I'm a worrier and a "what if" kind of person. I'm trying to be more positive and reading about your experiences has helped a lot.

I just found out on Tuesday that my insurance now covers the Lap Band! I was so overjoyed that I was crying to the rep on the phone! LOL. I have to see my PCP next Wednesday and get a referral to the Bariatric surgeon. I've already called their office and was told that I have to attend his seminar. I'm going the first Tuesday in June. I can only hope that I can get this done before the summer is over, the latest before the year is out. I am 55, and I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, knee pain, diabetic retinopathy (had 3 surgeries on my eyes) and a big family history of both Diabetes and High blood pressure. I've lost 2 brothers to the disease, and I don't want to go out like that. Ive been praying for this for a long time, and now I'm sssssssooooooooooooooo ready!! I'm glad I found this board! Good luck and God Bless on your journey!:biggrin2:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
