Hey Bel, how are you, and how is everything with your Mum?

Its been about three and a half months for me now - I have lost 12.4kg averaging about 500g a week. Have had three fills and everything is going along fine. Best decision i ever made. If it takes two years then so be it but my weights not increasing and that's the main thing. I am not finding it hard and I don't feel like my throat has been cut. I now don't eat red meat much but have taken a liking to fish which I never did before. Funnily enough leaving chips on my plate is so easy now and yet they were one of my favourite foods. I still sneak in the naughty things from time to time, but hey I'm human and don't we all. Even my doctor said that!!! In all I am happy and looking forward to continuing this journey. Even the clothes have started to loosen up.

Cheers for now

Hi, Bel - your pictures look great! I have a question that I am hoping you (or anyone else) can answer for me. I was banded on 13 Oct 2008 and do not go in for my first fill until 2 Dec. I don't usually feel any restriction - I can usually eat 2-3 cups of food at one time. However, sometimes I can't eat more than 1 cup. I get that full feeling in my chest and feel like I need to stretch myself out in order for the food to go down. I am still loosing weight because I am constantly focusing on only eating when I am hungry and stopping when the hunger is gone. My question is - is this feeling in my chest of fullness normal for someone who does not have a fill yet?

If I were you, I would put up a post on the general lap band support section. Or, you could do a search with the search up above button, and put in May. You should be able to find people who got their band close to when you did, and you can support each other.

Hi there was hoping you could use another friend. I was banded on sep 26, 08 I'm so glad i did it. I started at 215 and I'm 171 at this time so i'm happy with my progress. I got my first fill last week tuesday 3cc i have a 10cc band I still feel hungry and still have a hard time putting the fork down. I had the band because i'm a single parent of a three year old and a seven year old and I'm 27. I have a lot of health issues, bad diabites severe asthma ect. ect. but i've put a lot of weight on in the last three years because i became paralized aug of 2005 because of asthma and life support I'm starting to get my life back but don't have much support or friends and they really don't have a clue of what i'm going through. so if your looking for one more friend let me know thanks Jillian:w00t:

It's been an interesting thread to read. I have been considering WLS for a couple years now but I haven't yet taken the plunge. I was recommended to have GBS but I do not like the idea of my insides being re-arranged.

I am having a consultation with a nurse on 9th Dec. She does fills and gives info on all the WLS. I know pretty much what she's gonna say as I have done so much reading. lol.

I am from Ireland and have to self-pay unfortunately.

bel...You look great! I have been banded for over 2 years now and I am a slow loser also. I know that there are people here that maybe need your mentoring more than I do, but would you be willing to help a semi-experienced bandster out? I was wondering what size band you have? I have a 4cc band and already have over 4cc in it. I have not quite reached goal yet. Have you had alot of fills once you reached goal. I worry that this band will not help me sustain my weight over a long period of time because I am at full, plus some with my band. Thanks for your time.

Hi there, I've just found this thread - I've been banded 4 months and all is going great. My doctor said mushies after 5 days - all docs are different. I can't see any harm in having a few teaspoons of something really mushie - just so it won't go up a straw. I started mushies with soft buttery scrambled egg, mashed potato and gravy and a salmon patty. Hope that helps. You could always phone the surgery on Monday to check but after 12 days I think you'd be fine as long as you keep it to 1/4 cup max at first. Still, I'm not a medico so I'd hate for something to go wrong after this advice...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
