Does anyone else have what I call the "Last Supper Syndrome"???? I was approved on May 12th and sugery is on June 20th, but ever since I got the good news of approval I have had the need to eat, everything! I don't know if it is because I know if a few weeks that will be cut off from me and I am having my last big Binge. I have chatted with another who has had the same situation..... Any ideas to help get the "Last Supper Syndrome" to be a thing of the past?

Thanks! Ronda

Haha....I had about 4 "last suppers." I am 5 days post-op now though, and the desire to eat is so strong. The thing is, I can't. Seriously, even though its hard (thats the reason we are in the boat we are) I would suggest trying to change your diet now. Try learning to control your urges now so that later it wont be such a shock to your psyche.

I had lost 35 lbs previously on phentermine while doing the lap band process via my surgeon, and I can tell I have probably put 10 of those pounds back on. I did buy new running shoes today (not that they will see the pavement going that fast!) more like walking. I had a talk with them and told them to make sure I am consistent with the walking exercise! My sister called today and is giving me her old treadmill!!! I am just going to have to buckle down and quit thinking about what I won't be able to have once I am banded but what new things I will be able to do once the surgery is over! I have to talk to my self once in a while! LOL:rolleyes:

:thumbup:Congratulations on getting your band-date...June 20th is my birthday!

Last Supper Syndrome...I like that!

The days leading up to my pre-op diet, I had several "Last Suppers". I ate all of my favorites but everything went a little faster for me so I only had about five "pig out" day between approval and the start of my pre-op diet. I agree with Thenume, go ahead and eat a little bit of all your favorite foods.

Well, I know exaclty how you feel. I found out Tuesday that I was approved last Friday. Luckily I was able to schedule my surgery for the 9th so I didnt have time for many "Last Suppers" because I have to begin my pre-op diet today. I did go get chinese food last night though because no matter what I can eat or not eat with the band, im thinking Chinese food will never be good to eat anymore (not the fried meats & vegetables with sauces, etc)

I did that for 4 weeks, then was good for the last week, so my body wouldn't be as shocked.

I totally had Last Supper Syndrome. I'm paying for it today. LOL! I did very well showing my doctor that I could "stick to a program." Then after my approval, I had a few days before I needed to start the liquid pre-op diet. I ate pretty much whatever I wanted. Then last night my DH took me to my favorite restaurant (Roy's) and we had appetizers, butterfish (the best!), champagne . . . the works.

Today is day one of the liquid preop diet and DANG! This is difficult.

Last night seems very, very far away. I'm glad I did it, but I'm having a rough day today. I hope this liquid diet thing will be easier to endure tomorrow. yuck.

I probably gained half of my extra weight from "last suppers" over the past year or so! "I'm going on a diet Monday so this is my last supper". Hmmm I did that many weekends over the years, lol!!

So it's kind of ironic that I never really got my Last Supper before surgery. I had finally hit bottom and I was so ready for this, that I lost 10 lbs. on my own before I had my surgery date. Then I got a surgery date much sooner than I expected and pretty much had to go on the pre-op diet right away.

Now I'm two weeks post-op and making very healthy choices for my meals, I'm really not struggling with that at all. I'm toying with the idea of trying for a modified "last supper" the weekend before my first fill is scheduled for June 12th. But, I'll bet I end up deciding against it. We'll see!

I totally understand... here is what I did.... I did Protein shake throughout the day... then when dinner came... I had a salad first......got pretty filled up on that... and then had the entree... so I got to taste what I wanted to eat so badly... but I didnt over eat it because I had filled almost all the way up before eating the entree.... Like we went for pizza... I ordered a nice house salad... ate the whole thing... waited about 5 minutes ate a piece of my FAV FAV pizza and was done.....

You are getting use to the shakes during this time too.....when it is time to go on just shakes you will have all your favorite shakes lined up to get you through your liquid phase....

It worked for me.... !!!

I am 8 days post op and have only had shakes and broth and Water and I am fine... I did all shakes 4 days prior to surgery.....

That sounds like a good idea! :tt2: I am less than 3 weeks from my surgery and less than 1 week from my pre-op diet and I am eating like a mad woman!! I had reallly been doing well up until I got my approval and it has been an almost non stop binge ever since.

Hi Rhonda: I gained 12 pounds between the time I was approved and the time I had the surgery.......I was determined to eat everything there was to eat. That's why we needed the band, lol.

Don't worry, all will be well soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
