Hi all,

I am a wanna bandster!!! I have considered WLS for about 2 years off and on. I am just learning about the lap band and getting informed...

I have been spending all my free time on this website and several others plus reading books about WLS.

Wednesday I see Dr. Prewitt in Menomonee Falls, WI for my first consultation. I am so excited I can barely stand it.

I plan on interviewing at least two more doctors in the Milwaukee area....does anyone out there have any suggestions for an excellent lap-band surgeons in the Milwaukee area?

Also, what is the one most important question to ask your doctor about being banded?

Finally, I had a nice "chat" with bandit and dylansmom earlier tonight.....bandit wanted all the details so here goes:

I am 46 years old

I am married....15 years (same guy!!)

One daughter...she's 8 years old

I have been overweight all my life (but for a few years in my twenties)

I am 5 foot 4 inches

currently weigh 331

By the way, I am an avid quilter....think I might change my user name to something "quilty"!!! How do I do this?

Margo

It's so great to see your intro post, and I hope that you get all of your questions answered here. If you need anything EVER feel free to PM me or write me on the boards and I'll be there.

Have a great day! ~Kelly

Thanks for the kind words and support, ladies!!!

I am so excited to talk to my surgeon on Wednesday....I spoke with my PCP today (another issue...my knee!) and told me that I wanted to talk to several doctors. He didn't response like I thought he would...he was like O.K. whatever. But, I think it would be wise....don't you?

Margo

I think that if you'd feel more comfortable interviewing multiple doctors, then that's what you need to do. I couldn't afford it, because my surgeon charges $200 for the first consult. So it's all in what you can afford too.

I still think that doing the online research is cheapest way to go, if money is an issue. A lot of times just calling their office and getting info. that way will work too. That's what made me want to meet my surgeon. Her assistant took the time to explain everything to me over the phone, and that's what helped me to make my decision. If their assistant isn't easy to work with, then forget it! Because they're the ones that you usually end up dealing with most often.

I lucked out to hit it right on with the first try, but maybe others can join in here and give some good advice too.

Best of luck to you!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
