I just typed up a long thank you note to Janet for reminding us to the true key to success and "poof" the forum sent it into never never land! Argh :)

Anyway, thanks a bunch Janet.

I know I hate when that happens :)

Janet, thanks for the TOUGH LOVE. I need to hear that about once a week.

Thanks Donna & Charlene !!!

You know me :)- it's all about doing the work... If you do the work and yes it's hard work - you will be rewarded with the weight loss..

I gotta say that my outlook has really changed about food - last night I had to go to Walgreens to get GS notebook paper - I had just left the Lawyers office (having major fricking problems with my Sis) and was a tad stressed - I really didn't eat much yesterday and went hunting for something (reese white choc pb cups) well they didn't have any - so I looked as some other stuff but it really didn't appeal to me - and I really didn't even want the white choc pb cups either (I truly have no appeitate right now - the thought of food makes me sick) but I wanted to have a pity party for myself with food.. But I realized that now and I don't eat just for the sake of eating where as before I would have eaten just cuz I was feeling sorry for myself..

So ya if you do the work and think before you eat and why you are eating whatever - it will help you now and when you get to maintenance...

I think before I eat !!!

Janet, I am with you on the tough love thing. The band does help but man you do have to work hard to help get the weight off. You do have to change all of your habits alot. I have done that pretty well so far. Sorry about having problems with your sis. I been there and done that and I know what that is like. Some familys all change when there is a death. Some get through with no problems and other fall completely apart. Ours fell apart for a long time but is okay now. Hey i finally hit 45 lbs today. YEH:thumbup::w00t::thumbup::w00t:. I am happy:tt1::blink::tt1:. I still think at home I look much thinner and then when I go out I still look heavier. Its wierd. This is alot of weight to loose and my family is proud of me and so am I. It hasn't been easy though. I will admit that. Well hope you all are doing well today (hump day). See ya tomorrow!

Yep enjoyed the tough love aka reality that Janet posted too. It's a good reminder.

Becky, congrats on the 45 lbs and thanks for posting the Swiss steak recipe. That is not at all how I remember my grandma making it (and she was Swiss!) it was white so evidently with cream of mushroom or something. But then again her chop suey and chili weren't what I think of as the real things either. LOL

Good Morning Ladies....

White gravy - use to be a big comfort food for me... Now it's popcorn

How's everyone doing today...

How the restriction fill issues going..

Exercise ???

I am getting back to my routine to a degree did a mile last night - plus 1 hr weights (arms) not too bad for an old lady - had some lady tell me how good I look - she said you don't know me but I have seen you here and have seen your transformation - she didn't see me at 250, but like 175 I think (that's what she infered)... Told her thank you... It was a bright spot in my day :)

Well back to work - will cbl - have a good day girls...:)

Hey Janet....restriction has been really good for me the last few weeks. B/4 that I was really suffering with hunger. Fickle band! I thought for sure I would need a fill at my Nov 4 appt but just going to appreciate what I have. I take my time eating but have never pb'd and have only been stuck on deli meats 2x. That's it. My tummy must not like the consistency of deli meat even after chewed to liquid. Would rather be sitting where I am right now with restriction than getting a fill b/4 our 2 mo trip and suffering with being tight. I will see how it is when we get back to my doc again after vacation.

I document what I eat and am a very active person. Exercise, walk, etc. Can you give me a clue as to how many (approx) calories you take in a day? I am kind of hanging at goal (3lbs lower than goal because of virus) and want to stay at goal. I get between 3-3.5 Protein at a meal and usually the rest is veggies or fruit to meet my 4oz per meal. I do have one snack a day (100 cal popcorn or other 100 cal snack). I was told my the doc's nurse that I should be consuming 600 cals at day. I think that sounds terribly low.

I guess I will just have to play with it all and see where I level out.

Congrats on getting to goal :) I know how exciting that was for you...- I must have missed that while I was out -

Yep 600 is way to low - I'm 5'4 and would say I am mod active gym 3 - 4 times a week and have found that 1200-1500 caliories is a good amount for me and even with that amount I am still losing some like maybe a pound every couple of weeks (prior to all my latest drama)

My goal is to stick between 140 - 145 weight - right now 139 was 138 yesterday -

Typical daily diet was - Dannon lite & fit Yogurt/granola 1/3 cup for BF - snack almonds or Jerky or fruit - lunch usually 1 to 1 1/2 cup of a one pot wonder - meat - veggies - starch - snack a few almonds or a fruit - dinner 4 oz fish - 1/2 c rice - 1/2c veggies - snack 100 c poporn & maybe 1/2 cup sherbert (110 c) & or some fruit..

Bf 150

S 100- 170

L 200- 300

S 100- 170

D 300 -400

S 100- 200

total 1,410- some days I have snack in the morning &/or afternoon and some days I don't - so i really do vary between 1200-1500 most days..

I am no longer logging my food - I quite at my 1 yr mark when I got to goal - but I do keep a mental tab on what I am eating for as much as a 53 yr old can remember stuff . Again - I really do think before I eat and I eat better much the same thing day in and day out for the most part...

Maintaning is the scarest thing - now you want the scale to stay sorta even and we are so use to being in weight loss mode we can get dissappointed when the #'s arent going down..

But on the above - the scale has still been moving downward itty bits but that's fine as long as I hover 139/140 and I do't go above 145 - I am cool - and if I do go above 145 - then I will go back to logging my calories - that's what a lady here at work does when she has put on a couple of lbs (she has been thin all her life) I asked her how - she said when I want to lose a few lbs - I keep my calories between 1000-1200 and write down what I eat...

So far so good - it's all about thinking before you eat... Is that food you want (usuallly a treat or something high fat for me) is it really worth it. Heck on the treadmil last night 1 mile only burned like 88 calories - but it was just a warm up before I did my weights - usually I burn 300-350 during my usual treadmil workout of 3 miles due to the inclines that I use.

Thanks for the input, Janet and thanks for the congrats.

I am not worried about gaining at all. I am worried about losing any more with the strict diet (600--800 cals) that my doc insists on. I don't know how I can get any more cals in with eating only 1/2 cup meals 3xdaily. It just does not make sense to me. I know if I eat 800 I will still lose and that's not what I'm after.

Maintenance IS scary and, to tell you the truth, I am not willing to live with such a restrictive diet the rest of my life. I am going to start adding one more daily snack. I see my doc on Nov 4 and we are going to have a discussion on how he expects me to maintain a healthy weight with so little to eat.

Thanks, also, for documenting what you eat. Gives me an idea what to throw into my diet to help keep me at the weight I should be.

Yep it sounds crazy that you are suppose to stay on that kind of diet for maintinance...

I have always eaten more than 1/2 cup per meal - and my doc allows healthy snackes.

What I truly have done is just added Snacks between bf - lunch and lunch and dinner and maybe one extra one after dinner. In the weight loss phase I really didn't eat Snacks during the day - saved them for nights..

I was very afraid of maint in the beginning - but now I am ok with it - if I want a cookie or cake - once in a while - I will have it - mind you I really don't keep the stuff in the house - but if I want something I will have it..

I want to eat normally -- and that means all kinds of foods ...

Well, gang I am going to a gf house for dinner with her and her dh & ds - so I most likely won't be back til tomorrow...

Have a good evening...

hey indiogirl55 hi i just came across this website and would so love to have a band mentor...i was banded march 23, 2007 and in august 2008 i had lost 83 lbs and weighed 143 with bmi of 24 and was having esphoagus spasms and i had pulled something under and around my arm and back from vomiting too hard. anyways i had an unfil from 4.2 down to 3.5 they said...and in 3 weeks i was already gaining weight. i have since been filled back to 3.9 and really think i need more or to be back to the 4.2 i was...i now weigh 166 and so upset with myself and unhappy...i am however due to go back to my doctor the 11th of november for another fill...i got into the habit of eating soft foods and the stuff i ate while i "couldnt" eat when i was too tight and obviously ate larger portions and the calories racked up and i wasnt throwing anything up at all. so my mid section is bulging again...i am very depressed and disappointed in myself...i know the rights and wrongs of this lapband --why have i lost my way? the past couple of days have really upset me...i have had to go from the 8's i was wearing to 10's. i have been heavy my whole life and to gain this back is devastating to me. i feel like i need motivation and connection with something or someone that knows what i am going through or feel. my doctors office doesnt support us in those ways. they frankly dont have the time to be bothered. i have read your story and am so impressed...i am 5 5 and was 226 on day of surgery. i live 2 1/2 hours from my doctor so i have always tried to get really tight on fills...and the one i got in february this year i toughed it out until august being too tight and i really suffered but i was thin. and in my twisted mind i think i should have to suffer again...can you tell me about your diet and your advice on getting this idiot back on track.

Hi ya'll tonight (Thursday). Glad to hear everyone is doing okay. I had a fairly good day today. have been trouble every evening with dinner. Keep getting stuck. tonight I ate very slow and it all went down. I have noticed since my last fill, I am not as hungry. Its wierd because some days I can eat a normal meal and other days I can't eat much at all. I notice that I can't eat much after I have walked. Oh well! I just want to keep going along as planned. Anyway hope everyone has a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
