Peas.....yep WW is for accountability. The meeting is less than two miles from my house. I'm thinking about canceling the fill appt. Since I slimed on chicken today I think I must have restriction........at least today.

You'all are makin me scared to travel to Europe next summer. Fortunately, the travel agency is letting us know about a lot of it, but I know I set off alarms while being frisked. Two fake knees, a screw in the elbow, lapband, probably the fillings in my teeth not to mention bra hooks and jewelry. My mother has a metal plate in her head--wonder what that would do. I know she can't have an MRI.

I agree that its not making us any safer. Israel uses different, less invasive procedures, according to Newsweek, and they're more security conscious than anyone and have more years of experience. They train their people to spot anomalies like one way tickets and strange answers to simple questions. Their people are well-trained, not on coffee breaks. Most of the current U.S.A. procedures are reactions to failed attempts by terrorists and not even likely to be tried again.

My concert yesterday was incredible. The acoustics were phenomenal and we had 771 people in attendance in addition to the choir. Give you the chills kind of beautiful music.

Funeral tomorrow. Three caskets. That will be hard, but I feel like I'll mostly be grieving for other's grief. That's always hard for me. Yesterday, three young girls were praise dancing in our church and Joi was a beautifully graceful praise dancer. Very serene, elegant and graceful. I cried then. But each day it gets easier. We can talk about how silly she could be. Bit of an airhead, chatty Kathy type, into clothes and hair, very girly girl. Always laughing. But never mean. Not a mean bone in her body. I miss her.

But I also feel like Mikey's death in September hardened me just a little. And I think about those children for whom death is commonplace. Boys who don't expect to live to adulthood. Who seek a family in the gangs and structure in prison life because their is no other life apparantly available to them. I am trying to be especially gentle with the kids.

So, I'm tired now. Better get to bed.

Cheri

Weird...system will not let me change my font and color again. Wish they would get the bugs worked out on this. I still cannot see who is posting. Someone want to answer my question? Asked twice....someone? Can anyone else see at the bottom of the thread who is reading?

Good Morning All...

Heading out today. Picking up my GF, have to travel a bit, hitting the mall, might take in a movie and dinner, a little more shopping in the morning and then travel home. Looking forward to getting off the farm and 24 hours of leaving things behind me.

My wake and funeral are Fri/Sat so I did not have to cancel out on today. Was afraid that might happen. Soooooo...going to go and enjoy. Talk to you all when I get back.

Good Morning Gang! I am going to join WW this morning then off to sit at the hospital with my friend. Her blood flow is back to normal. She did have a small blood clot. She also is on two insulin shots a day for her diabetes. If her heart checks out after tests she will go to a rehab on Thursday. I hope she goes to the doctor now when she doesn't feel well. What a way to get a check up? She is so stubborn. I have seen her suffer with bronchitis for months. I will check in this afternoon.

Cheri.......HUGS! and PRAYERS for you today!!!. Such a tragedy.

Cheri - Hugs

Laurak - Love your Ju Ju ;0)

Charlene - Glad you are joining WW

Great - I get frustrated easily - inconsiderate pple just piss me off - but I don't yell at anyone - well except the timeshare pple at Cancun airport - well didn't yell at them just asked for directions and knew something was up - so just told everyone come on lets go - but my facial expression and tone of voice was rude

Apples - Glad you get to go on your girl trip - enjoy

Well the stupid computer took forever to turn on - it's time to hit the shower.

Good morning.

I can change color and font but don't see who is watching the thread. Think there used to be something at the bottom, not sure as I never looked for that. I just watched the new posts.

Looks like a nice sunny day for a change. The thing I hate worse about the SLC winter are the inversions. Once we get cold and snow on the ground somehow that makes the cold air get stuck at the bottom of the valley and it can't escape over the mountains all around. So many times it will actually be sunnier and warmer up in the bottoms while all the muck is stuck down here. The air quality gets really bad. I remember our first winter here many years ago it was a record, the sun shone twice from November til March. UGH!!! I just had to drive up the hills just to get some sun.

Not doing much today.

Arlene, a friend of mine is doing WW and got the new program last week. She said they changed how you calculated points so that something like french fries isn't the same point value as something more nutritious. The point sliders didn't work any more and she had to buy a $5 point calculator (clever marketing LOL). She is still figuring it out and doing the old plan in the mean time. I just wonder with the band if I could even eat enough if I ate healthy w/o sliders etc. to even get all my points. Good luck with it. I've missed some posts with being gone, but I thought you couldn't wait for your fill because you could eat too much??? But today I read that you might cancel it??

LauraK, ju ju back at ya!

Apples, enjoy your day with your friend? is it the Mall of America you are going to?

Janet, good luck getting back into the 'grind' today.

Cheri, thinking of you at those funerals today.

Good Morning, Gang! I can't see who is online either. We'll see if I can change fonts/color!

Going to the pool today for the first time in over a week. Still coughing up junk, though! Headache again last night but not today. Sure having a hard time shaking this crud. But will at least go in the hot tub, maybe not do a whole hour of Water aerobics as I still feel wiped out.

Cheri... keeping you in my prayers today... a difficult day for you!

Gotta go~ CBL!!

Good morning ladies and Tx.

Cheri - will be sending prayers with you today. 3 caskets would be so hard to see. hugs

Arlene - way to go joining WW with DD. You are such a trooper.

Jessica - fantastic work on your grades and exercise 5K. Wow

Lori - fascinating to hear about the inversion in SLC. Have never heard of that before.

LauraK - juju back at you.

Laura - my DGD has contact dermatitis and is a hair dresser. Aveda products caused terrible problems with her hands, even though they are all natural. She works with Redken now. She has also had problems with elastic.

Apples - we are also experiencing funerals as our social events. DH is 73 and I'm 67 - guess it is just the way of life now. Makes us thankful for each additional day we have.

Phyl - loved the pix of Zoey cuddeled up in bed. So cute. I'm still fighting off this sore throat. Yuk.blink.gif

okay still have not figured this font/color/size but whatever.....

Hi everyyone...

Janet glad you are back safe and sound.....

Cherri....I just want to give you hugs and kisses...please take care of yourself through all this and perhaps you should make sure that you also take care of your mental health and see that you recieve some emotional support at this time....you cannot be the only one to do this for so many little ones. Hugs and Kisses

Joyce,...Happy Chanucka to you and your husband as well.....thanks. I hear KC has some interesting celebrations going on!

Great....glad to hear your day with DD went well and you enjoyed special time!

Apples.....perhaps the reason why so many people retire to warmer weather places is because as we get older the colder gets bolder!

Jessica, So glad your doctor is going on the run with you.,..thats support

Phyl...I love baileys...lol. Used to keep that and a bottle of Amaretto under my bed at colllege. Brings back good memoires....I like the sweet stuff....and creamy....could drink the whole bottle of either...in the old days!

Tex,,,sorry about the shoulder and back...prayers to you for your dad. Glad your wifes finger is feeling better

Dont know whom im missing...i know there was more to respond so sorry.....

Well....another three days and Chanukah will be over. So far...Dassi got everything she wanted....and then some lol.

what she wasnt expecting.....a new karate Ghee.....a private lesson that I told her was from her father whom I know would have wanted her to have that....so I said was really from him...she liked that. A camp reunion on Monday that consisted on Bowling, ice skating, dinner and concert with camp friends. That was expensive but well worth the days activtites.....

I am under the weather....apparently touch of the flu perhaps....so peeved that the day I take off my soap operas.....cancelled for a state of the union....oy. well whatever....got the needed rest.

Making cajun salmon tonight...Dassi actually has asked for it....so of course I am obliged!!!

I seem to be getting stuck on everything these last week...no matter what I eat I get stuck.....im sure its because I am sick and maybe swollen. Im going to the surgeon on the 22nd if I still feel bad then im going to ask for an unfil...just havent felt right since last fill and its really touch and go....but this past week not so good.....and resorting to shakes and Protein Bars not so good......

welll no art at school today.....so need to cook dinner now and have ready by 5:30.

This weekend need to get out of the apt....because they are redoing my bathroom!!! yea. so..Dassi is going to my parents and I am going to the city......for a girls weekend with Renne.....she lives...on the LES. so lots to do and see this time of the year. Hope ill be feeling better by then!

okay have a good night all...

Jodi

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
