O Restriction, Restriction, wherefore art thou Restriction?

Recommended Posts

Interesting how different it is reading thru here. I can definitely eat more than I used to - but doctor is reluctant to fill given consistency of my weight. I am a little nervous about how much I can eat by the end of the day! But, I don't want to overfill and not be able to eat either!

My first year I had no food get stuck, but recently have had a couple of episodes of sticking. Yuck!

I'm not sure what the sweet spot is for my band - or my brain!

I get good restriction for about a month after a fill, then it's gone. I've been reading and got a little paranoid about my band not being able to fit anymore and still need to lose weight.. WELL... I have a 9.75cc band.. I thought I had a 4cc band.. gezzz I emailed my doc and he told me, then I re-read my letter and sure 'nough, there in black and white is my info.. I feel soooo much better. I do need another fill, I have really been struggling with food and eating way to much or just eating all day long.. I increased my exercising. So I need to get mind set over this and get back with the program. I'm ready for that sweet spot everyone is talking about.. I need some help here!!!! :smile2:

When I am struggling, I try to have alot of nuts on hand. If I still feel hungry after I've eaten my salad plate of food, I eat some almonds or I make a bean salad.

Lately, I feel like I have been able to eat a lot more than I used to. But, I am afraid to have a fill because I've had food get stuck a couple of times. (ate stuff too dry) and do not want that experience again!

It sounds like you are doing the right things. Increasing your exercise is great! Just keep moving and focus on what you've already accomplished!

Hi Guys,

Haven't posted in a while. I had my port replaced again on February 11th. Had a fill in March and had some restriction for the first time since they emptied it when I was in Spain back in September. Then I went back 2 weeks ago and had another fill and now I have NO restriction, it's like the band isn't even there. I have another appointment tomorrow for another fill. I am so depressed. I have gained about 8# since I got back home in December. You are all doing so well and I have only lost 30# since this whole thing began. I am frustrated. I am really happy for all of you, you have done SO well! I still love this band, and want it to work. I will have him really tighten it up tomorrow. I want to be like you Chrisann where I can only eat 4-6 oz. and be done. I want restriction! Diane:cursing:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
