I am so scared to fail...

Recommended Posts

:frown:I just had my surgery 4/17 and I am so afraid I am going to fail at this. I weighed 202 postop and today I went to my first appt and weighed 5 lbs less. I am doing well with eating liquids with Protein but I must admit I love a couple of glasses of wine at night (have a 2.5 yo and a 5.5 yo boys).... What if I fail at this, I so want to make this work and feel so blessed to have had this procedure done...:crying:

I was banded on 4/16, and I have been very afraid of failing.

It is very early after your operation to be weighing yourself. After the surgery you have bloating, swelling, and Water retention, so that is going to account for some of the "weight." I have not weighed myself yet. I am STILL swollen from the surgery. DH says I have lost weight, and my face looks a little less puffy, but who knows, right?

Hang in there. This is a wonderful place for support. Listen to your doctor and don't stress out. It's all gonna be ok. :rolleyes2:

I am feeling the same way- I was banded on 4/9 and now that all of the swelling and pain are diminishing my appetite is back- and even though Im still on liquids and soft things Im worried that Im going to feel so hungry that Im going to do something bad until my fill which isnt until 5/20!!! Thats almost a whole month away!! Im nervous because I have already lost 26 pounds and desperately do not want to gain. Ugh. I completely understand where you are coming from....:huh2:

You should be able to eat that soon- as long as the refried Beans are fat free...give it a few days and try a bit and if its not comfortable- try again in a few days. Those were two mushy foods my doc told me I could have as long as prepared low or no fat

We are all world class yo-yo dieters. I think we are all scared to fail on this one. All you can do is take it one day at a time, remember the scale is not your friend. I am addicted to mine, its a harsh reminder that all my life I have been battling this demon and it is winning at this stage of the game. But I got a secret weapon coming in in may and it will help me win the final battle with this. Just remember the Band is a tool to help you make the right and smart choices, and you can only take this one day at a time.

If you start to feel stressed and overwhelmed take a step back, deep breaths and just remind yourself you can do this!! You have what it takes.

I was banded 21st of March and I am still thinking of that this is not going to work for me. I have lost weight, but all on my own. My surgeon says that the band is not doing anything for me until the first fill. I have had my first fill and I still feel the same way. I go for my second fill on 5/16. I was starting to wonder if I had done the right thing by getting the LB, but now I am more than determined to make this work. I have put too much time into this ( and money), that I don't want it to fail me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
