Hi!

I was on ebay posting some stuff and I thought what the heck let me type in lap Band and see what comes up.

Not much unless you are in the market for saws and some other weird things.

Anyway I did however see a few Medic Alert Brecelets just for Lap Bandsters.

Do any of you wear one now after surgery? I am pre op waiting for approval. So I'm just curious.

XOXO

I just ordered a couple (my surgery was on 4/7), with the following info:

Adjustable Gastric Band

w/ Abdominal Port

No NG w/o Scope

No NSAIDs

Allergies: Cipro,

ACE Inhibitors

Some people like to add their name and an emergency number; I left those out.

I ordered a dog tag from an eBay vendor, and a charm Bracelet (in sterling silver), from americanmedical-id.com

A bunch of people on this forum have them, and I'm glad I'll have one soon, too. You can never be too safe.

I think I will get one. I do wear a charm Bracelet but I could get something simple for my other arm. I saw a really nice one that looked like an ID bracelet with a small medic alert charm on it. subtle and cute.

How are you feeling a week out? Hope better each day!

I'm feeling good! A little hungry, but not too bad. I had a dream about eating an eggroll last night, though!

I was told I should get a Medic Alert bracelet/necklace as well but wasn't told what to put on it other than the Adjustable Gastric Band. Since I've read your post I'll have to ask specifically when I see my Dr. tomorrow.

Can you tell me what "no NG w/o scope" means, I have no idea atm. Also, where did you order from? TIA

"No NG w/o scope" means that is case of emergency, a nasogastric tube should not be blindly inserted, as it can cause some pretty serious damage.

I wear mine on my ankle because I've lost so much weight that it is too big for my wrist.

I put my name, DOB, doctor's name and phone # and LapBand AGB, NO Blind NG tube and the drugs I am alergic to.

I've also seen an ad on this website that has some very nice looking bracelets which lists the same information. They had them with pretty bands and some were also watches that were nice.

I just received mine in the mail today. I got it from Fashionable Medical Identification Jewelry And Medical ID Jewelry For Children From Lauren's Hope. You can get a medic alert id and then buy different bracelets or watches that attach to it. The id is on the bottom of your wrist and from the top it just looks like a Bracelet or watch. You can switch them out whenever you want. Some of them are pricey, but it's great to have the variety.

Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but one thing I read said to wear it on your left wrist as that is where most medical personel check the pulse and would be likely to see it. If there are any emt's on the site, i'd love to know if that's true!!

Shop away,

Amy

I'm an emt and I dont think it matters what wrist its on. I can say that when we retake pulses in the ambulance it is on the left wrist because of the way u are lying on the stretcher. I personally wouldn't wear it on an ankle but that's just me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
