I am having a very tough morning. I am overly emotional. I feel like I could cry at anything. This is my second day on mushy's. I did have a pureed Soup over the weekend. My scale hasn't moved in 3 days. I said I wouldn't get anxious if this happened and not to pay attention to the scale but here I am crying at every little thing and I know if stems from that dumb scale! How long until you started to see results after you started mushys.

Actually, I didn't see any results from the time I had my band until I reached proper restriction. That is normal. This is the time for healing. Many people see no weight loss, or even gain between the time they get their band, start getting fills and reach proper restriction.

Dee,

try not to stress over not losing weight. until you are properly restricted, you more than likely will not lose and many people actually gain a few pounds (mushies tend to be higher in carbs, etc...)

maybe stay off the scales until your first fill ?? i know thats easier said than done (coming from a former scale-addict!), but it helps. focus on eating as best as you can, moving as much as you can and the weight loss will come.

best of luck

Dee, You won't love this answer, but the scale will likely go up a bit before it comes down. :) Your body will now be getting a little more carbs and fat than it had on liquids -- this is why it will go up a little, but trust in time that it will come back down. I promise!

I'm just starting on soft foods now after 2 weeks on mushies, and I actually kinda enjoyed that stage. I was advised that anything decent (i.e. not ice cream) that I blended was eligible, including my favorite Pasta dish! Veal-filled ravioli with a spicy arrabiatta sauce and baby spinach. Yum! It looked horrible, but tasted great. Don't be afraid of the way your mushies look, just enjoy all the flavors you can taste now!

The only thing that was not good blended was scrambled eggs. I'll probably try that in this stage...

It's just your body adjusting. Really, stay off the scale and be patient. Try to limit your scale visits to once a week if you can. I can't, but I try to wait 3 days before I give in...

And BTW, I don't really measure and track stuff so much as I focus on eating Protein and maybe a little veggies. Applesauce for dessert or maybe some Protein pudding!

I was the same way. I lost 19 lbs on the pre op diet and then after surgery I didn't lose anything for 3 weeks. scales stayed the same. And now being 5 weeks out I've only lost 2 lbs. I weigh on Wednesdays so we'll see tomorrow if it's any better. I try not to stress over it but I'll admit I got VERY mad when the scales stayed the same for 3 weeks. I mean, here I am eating less than half of what I used to eat, I'm walking 2 times a day, getting in about 3 or more miles, drinking 10 or more glasses of Water a day, following all the rules but nothing was happening. I don't know who or what I was mad at but I took it out on my poor Mom. The only thing that kept me from getting so mad to cry was that I've lost 8 inches all over so far. I don't understand how you can lost inches and not pounds but it's possible. I go for my first fill on the 23rd so I'm hoping a little more restriction will be the answer to it all.

i am almost 2 weeks out, and from beginning of pre-op diet to now, i have lost about 7 lbs. its depressing, but as the people on here have said, and my doctors office, and all the info on this website, there isnt a real reason why, but alot of people dont lose weight until they get a fill. know that you arent alone in that depressing fact, but also know that it will change. so hang in there, eat as healthy as you can now, and things will get better!

Thanks. I am trying to not be upset. It is so strange. My food intake has cut in half; no even more. I am walking, which I never did. It really doesnt make sense! The food I am eating are such better choices. From a bagel and cream cheese to 1% cottage cheese with fruit. God, please help me through this stage!

I have a dumb question. On the mushie stage...why do you need to blend food? I mean if you are eating soft foods....like scrambled eggs...and you chew chew chew...isn't that sort of the same thing? I chew until there is not much left to chew. It goes down great. Am I wrong to think this way? If so, tell me now because I admit...I have been eating canned Soups and things that are soft and tender and not blending them...just chewing them well.

I'm on mushies too and I haven't blended anything. I've just been chewing a lot but I haven't had anything get stuck. I've had scrambled eggs, chicken salad, Cereal with a lot of milk so its very mushy, oatmeal, etc.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
