"Shawna...I say she needs to finish this book!! What I read was just as good as the others I couldnt stop reading it...lol"

I know, right! I thought it was really good, even though you are reading through the same events. You understand it better since you understand more about his world. Hopefully she will finish it. If you like these, you will really like the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse Books). They are the books that the show "True Blood" is based on. They are a little more descriptive in the love scenes, but they are very good and just as addictive.

So far this fill is working really good for me, except I have to be really careful not to eat/drink close to bed time.

Hope everyone is doing well! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Can you say restriction???? OMG! I thought I had restriction before, but WOW! I could only eat about half my bowl of Soup for lunch! I made spaghetti for dinner (I usually just eat the sauce) and I could eat maybe 1/2 cup (I really think it was less than that). It usually takes a week or so for my fills to kick in - and boy 7 days later and BOOM! If it gets any tighter, I will have to get an unfill. I am having a hard time with any liquids at bedtime. I try not to drink anything after 7 (I go to bed around 9). I am still choking in the middle of the night. Any suggestions? That is the only rotten part about this.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

=)

I was suppose to get a fill yesterday but they cancelled and said no one was gonna be there on yesterday for fills so I have to wait til the 23rd. BUMMER and I need one NOW!

On the good note tho, I have lost 45 pounds and my mom measured me this weekend and I have lost some inches. If I remember correctly like 3 in my waist and 4 in each thigh so that is why my pants are baggy. :blushing:

Just thought I would share! I haven't posted in a while. I am hoping to make it to the meeting this weekend.

That is wonderful Razberry! I'm only down 40 since October but I'm not compliaining! I am wearing 18/20's again and they are actually getting baggy!

It took me awhile to get caught up on all of the posts...I have been so busy with work and school lately I haven't had too much time to concentrate on logging in my diary or posting on here. It's great to see how everyone is doing good!

In my last post I referenced having severe dry mouth...well I found out that the medicine I am on causes dry mouth, but I was too big before for it to effect me! LOL SO, I have had to drop the dosage down to 1/2 and it's getting better. I thought that was funny! Here I was freakin' out because I thought something was really wrong and the whole time I was just "over" medicated!

Hope everyone is doing well... keep up the good, hard work and congrats Jason on your weight loss! :blushing:

I think it is getting better. I really think it was the timing. But I actually love this restriction, it is not so tight that I PB and hurt, I just get full quick.

I don't take anything for reflux, I don't think its reflux, I used to have that something awful, I believe it must be if I have any fluids left in my pouch and when I lay down, they must cannot get through. So I now just try not to drink at least 1 hour before I lay down. Which makes me wake up wayyy thirsty! :blushing:

Way to go Raz! You are rockin right along!

April you are doing great too! Yall keep it up!

I am ready for support group this weekend. That is one thing that I do for myself that I feel really helps me on the inside! Hope to see you all there!

Hope everyone's week goes smooth!!

Hi, just thought I'd check in. Well I was supposed to go back in for my fill yesterday but Ashley called me monday and told me that Lisa was not going to be there and would I rather see Dr Miles. I said I don't think so...he's the reason that I'm having to come back in the first place. I'm still bruised where he was digging around.

So raz, she gave you an appt next week? She told me there was nothing until March 9, I told her that I really needed to get in next week cause I am going to Gatlinburg for the first week of March and I really need a fill. If I have to wait till then it will be 2 months since my last fill and I still am not close to my sweet spot. This is so frustrating. I am really thinking about changing doctors. Anyone know of any good doctors around here that would take me?

Congradulations on the weight loss everybody...I can't say that I have lost any in a couple weeks now, and on top of that I am getting sick so I just can't get anything going right...

Well maybe I will see you in the waiting room, however I don't know what you look like so who knows, I usually talk to people in the waitin room tho. I am one of those that seems shy but I am very talkative... lol

I am hoping to make it to the meeting on Sat. Hubby might have to work so I will have to see if my MIL will watch the wild kiddies for 2 hours or so.

I am sooooooooooooo glad it is Friday today, work is sooo busy and I am ready for the weekend. Hoping it is nice to go to Oak Mountain and do some geocashing.. anyone do that? We used to but are getting back into it. It is pretty fun for kids and adults and seeing what the hidden treasure is.... there are even some in clay & trussville.

Anyway I am blabbering and I must go and wake my wild boys and get them ready for school.

wel it was a long night last night. i got a phone call about 10pm and my dad was telling me i need to get up to there house. he couldnt get mom to do anything (talk, keep her head up and so on). so i rushed up there to see her in the car sloped over and dad holder her head up. the medics was working on here trying to get a i.v. started. her sugar had bottomed out. it was so low it wouldnt even show up on the tester. they finally got an i.v. started on her and pushed some d50 and she came around some. it took about 4 hours to get her sugar up to a safe level. i got her back home around 4 am and shes gone to she her dr now.

now to give you a short history on my mom. she has had 3 heart attacks and 2 storkes. she works way to much and doesnt get nowhere near the amount of rest she needs. never eats right and has to take way to much meds to stay alive.

im telling all this to show you why i got this lapband. it wasnt to look better to someone else. to wear smaller clothes, our to even fit in a ride at six flags that i havent been able to ride since i was a little kid. it was to see my kids grow up and hopefully see there kids born and grow up. i want to enjoy life with the love ones around me for a long time to come.

so when you are thinking that you cant do anymore and you wonder if the surgery was worth it. turn and look at the ones around you and say YES it was.

so smile today! because it could be alot worst for all of us!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
